For his sake, I hope that it was nothing more than a poor decision made in an exuberant moment. Based off his profile, it's clear he'll never again have the opportunity to acquire something as game-changing as Yagrush or a weapon as powerful as Ryunohige. I could even understand someone choosing an Apocalypse for their beloved DRK. But the gil? With patience, he could have made more gil by breaking down and selling a 10k piece. Not to mention, as you and Byrth pointed out, that gil's not as useful today as it was in the past.

On a related note, last night I picked up what I believe was Bonanza Roundel for 6M. Asura hasn't seen Roundels for that price since it was realistically possible for Asura to take the Campaign Beastmen Strongholds (not that we managed to do it that often). I'm surprised that the seller didn't instead choose Hachiryu Haidate and sell it for twice the price of that Roundel. Yay for me, I guess. I've been sitting on ~10M for ages, so it was nice to pick up a new shiny for RDM and DNC at a decent price.
