Regarding the whole burial-at-sea thing... I'm not even sure if thats in islamic culture. I know that if the body is buried in the ground, it should be done so without a casket, but I've never heard of a burial at sea for a muslim.

Idk if this was answered in the thread itself, or one of the links posted but, no, burial at sea is only ok in very specific circumstances (like dying on a boat). We did however, follow every other part of the culture we could, washing the body, quick burial, etc etc.
