Makes sense, the only point in releasing the photos was to appease conspiracy theorists who won't believe it anyways. Not to mention it would most definitely be used as some kind of propaganda tool by extremists.

I'm pretty disappointed, like they couldn't release any kind of photos at all? It doesn't even need to be a mug-shot. Out of sight, out of mind? Bullshit, the extremists can't get anymore pissed than they are now. Soldiers overseas will never be any "safer" against an enemy that lives among the community, the Taliban, so that is a dumb thing to say altogether.

Nobody wants to see some photo-op of people posing with his dead body. A simple wide-angle photo of the burial would suffice for me. You will never quell the real conspiracy nuts out there who will never believe it even with video evidence. I don't believe people who want to see the photos are all conspiracy theorists.

I suppose I can understand the conspiracy theorists skepticism on this even if I don't agree with them... but what would be the point of faking it? Despite the party in the street reactions, Bin Laden had been essentially forgotten by most of America. It doesn't make sense from a political angle either as it's too far removed from the election to make a significant impact.

I don't really get why it matters? The backlash of getting caught in a lie this big wouldn't warrant lying about his death first of all. Second, there are still going to be people who don't believe it, which will just create another endless cycle of bullshit. Lastly, are you really going to sleep better at night after having seen a picture of his dead body? I doubt it, the guy hasn't been on anyones mind in the past 5 years but now all of a sudden it's a big deal whether he's truly dead or not?
