The U.S.-led coalition said in a statement that 30 American service members, a civilian interpreter and seven Afghan commandos were killed when their CH-47 Chinook crashed in the early hours Saturday. A current U.S. official and a former U.S. official said the Americans included 22 SEALs, three Air Force air controllers and a dog handler and his dog.

Sad that these warriors had to go out like that.

But did anyone else notice that they say 30 service members, but their figures only add up to 26, 27 if they're counting the dog. Who were the other 3-4? Possibly the flight crew, but why not list them among the casualties?

Could be a few reasons. I'm guessing some names are being kept classified until respective families are notified.
