Pretty sure (CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!) that these are also the battlefields they mentioned earlier dropping +1 Seals for Empyrean Armor.
If so, not sure why they couldn't have announced both at the same time.

A group could potentially bring BS and/or KS orbs along with the KC orbs, and knock out lots of different runs in one trip.
Yeah that's what I was thinking too.
Interesting that they chose 30 & 50 as the entry values, and YAY for more 3-man battles. What I found weird was under level cap it says "any level" rather than unrestricted/uncapped... does this mean we can impose a level cap prior to the battle like with Assault? O-o
Has there ever been pop culture references in FFXI? I can't think of any off the top of my head. This might be the first time.
There are tons. They usually appear as quest titles or in other places where they don't interfere with the "lore" going on in-game. Off the top of my head, Tavnazian Safehold has a quest called "A Hard Day's Knight" which is a reference to the Beatles song "A Hard Day's Night".
I also seem to recall that one of the tuning forks (or mini-tuning forks) is granted from a menu where you select "Fork me baby one more time".
Edit: During a battlefield against orcs in the Sandy WotG mission quests, the leader makes multiple "All Your Base" references. It sort of works without breaking lore because orcs speak in horribly broken english anyway so it's a play on that.
A lot of BCNM fights are also Pop Culture References.
Toadal Recall, for one... Theres a lot more ,I think "Come into my parlor" is a reference to something. NM"Flytrap" jug pet is a reference to the Little Shop of Horrors.
Theres a buttload. in a WoTG Cutscene an Orc says "All your Jeuno are belong to us" iirc.
this BCNM http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Charming_Trio is a play on the TV series "Charmed".
This BCNM http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/The_Final_Bout is a play on something, you fight "The Waughroom Kid". The Karate Kid reference maybe? 3 minute fight. Unusual BCNM.
Charming Trio references "Charmed", Come into my Parlor references the African folktales of Anansi, Early Bird Catches the Wyrm (Worm), Brothers references a previous FF title (FF8 - GF Brothers) to add a few.
I was really hoping the guy was joking.
one of my favorites is a wotg mission called "Snakes on the Plains"
I mean either the guy was joking/trolling/sarcasming or hasn't played since AU. There were references before then, obviously (A Hard Day's Knight, etc), but I think they really ramped up from there. God, I still remember the merrow scale quest: "How could this happen to me?" I think was the big ytmnd fad at the time.
Silence of the Rams, one of my favourites.
i have to say all the monk quests do seem to have the best pop culture references
inb4 To do the new Synergy augments you need to get some drop from these to make it worthwhile.
