Yea, hasn't Dexter's M.O. from the beginning been to take out people that have slipped through the cracks of the system? He hasn't let the system even get a shot this season and is going all gun-ho vigilante before his victims even get a shot at justice. I think his father mentioned something like this in this episode when they were in the church, something about unnecessarily taking the extra risk to go after Geller when the police are hot on his heals.

Glad I didn't read this thread for two weeks and avoided all the speculation. Made the reveal pretty intense for me. Maybe I'm naive, maybe I'm an idiot. Probably both. But I was all jazzed up at the end.

See you fucks in three weeks you're too savvy for me.

Dunno what you guys been watching but Dexter has solved/helped on various cases and the show has been him vs. the hot case since season 2.

Didn't he kill the skinner in season 3 out of self-defense? Season 4 he wanted Trinity before Deb got shot by his daughter, then he went full bore. Season 5 didn't happen.

I feel like patting myself on the back for suspecting Louis was a shady fuck.

Also, pretty cool that no one except for Olmos, Hall, and the writers knew about the "big reveal" concerning Travis. Made it a lot more convincing as a viewer, in my opinion, even if a lot of us were starting to suspect this would happen. Now I'm just curious to know how long Gellar has actually been dead, not sure if I think he's been dead the whole time, or if maybe Travis killed him during the season. Maybe Gellar was the one who offed Travis's sister, then Travis killed him? Dunno, can't wait to find out though.

Indeed, he was, however, involved with the case the whole season. But you're right.

I think deb is going to get fired, she does seem out of place as Lt but that's just my opinion.

You might like that, but after three seasons of the same kind of storytelling it's getting boring.

Dexter's all about a vendetta against one person - Trinity Killer, the self-help dude (and his minions) and now Gellar/Travis. I miss when he used to take out random people who slipped through the justice system to exact his type of justice and left the police to their own devices.

On a side note, Dexter's voiceovers love to state the obvious don't they?

I agree. They're making his kills all too personal and all about chasing down certain people before the cops get to them. Which isn't what he's about.

I just find so many things wrong with this season. But at the same time I think the side stories are actually more interesting than Dexter's. The biggest thing that bothered me was that Dexter was setting up the kill room while he had Travis distract Geller. Which, he should have just gone straight in and tranqed him and then setup the kill room... Not the other way around.

By the way, when Dexter talks to Harry, do we know what it looks like to the outside world? Is he talking out loud or in his head. I ask because when he was in the church setting up the kill room, he wasn't exactly whispering and then he hit the table. I would think that anyone at the other end of the church would have heard that quite clearly.

I believe that Travis killed Geller after the Whore of Babylon. Also I wouldn't shed a single tear for LaGuerta after what she has done to Angel. As for Dexter's talk with Harry, I think it's in his head only.

Dexter's talks with Harry are like Mr Brooks Talks with his dark side. They're completely in his head.

In that case, I wonder what it looks like to an observer; it all happening in a split second or Dexter staring off into the middle distance for the duration of the conversation lol.

Eh, I know I'm nitpicking, but the quality of this season has led me to mock Dexter now.

He started off the season showcasing the fact that he was getting people slipping through the cracks (EMT dudes). While I agree I like seeing him catch random guys, for the most part we're to assume he still does this and the seasons just follow his interactions with the big cases. The cast is big enough now with their own stories they don't have time for long "freak of the week" episodes.

i noticed that too. there are so many interesting sidestories going on, it sometimes feel like they are trying too much. we had brother sam who died way too early for beeing so awesome. then masuka and his chick which sadly ended nowhere. now to new (killer?) guy who's obsessed with dex and batista's sister. break up between quinn and deb which led to the great quinn + batista duo shortstories. shady laguerta doing shady things with the fbi director and hopefully gets killed by the end of the season. oh and that wasted trinity arc episode...

on top of that the main story with two-ish killers, who need enough screen time to develop their own history. they simply don't have enough time to show any other "interesting" killers for dex to go after. they don't even have enough time for the entire cast. everytime i see that new detective i'm like "oh right, they got a new one". on the other hand, i like most of the sidestories. 16 instead of 12 episodes for this season wouldn't hurt tho.

People who complain about the lack of random killing are the same people who were bitching at all the filler episodes in previous seasons.

All those random kills were filler episodes.

I don't understand why people complain about Dexter going after one/two main killers per season. With every "big bad" he goes after it shows us all of his character development and shows him how to control his dark passenger, become a better father to Harrison, etc.

Sensing that Showtime’s recent renewal of Dexter for two more seasons had prompted a collective, balloon-slowly-deflating sigh from fans, network president David Nevins immediately turned around and let everyone know that those seasons would “likely” be the end, is that satisfactory, whiners? Though, as is always the case with Showtime series, a show will start to think about maybe wrapping things up and saying goodbye, and then Showtime will start crying and threatening to kill itself, and that’s how Weeds is still on the air. But today Nevins offered an even more defensive, slightly more definitive statement on Dexter’s end, telling Entertainment Weekly that not only is the entire creative team currently operating under the assumption that the show will wrap up by season eight, “There’s things that are going to happen [this season] that will set up a very clear endgame that will take two seasons to tell.”
Of course, he once again gives himself an out, saying, “Things could take a turn creatively where they come to us and say they need more time.” But meanwhile, he urges even those who may have already grown bored watching Colin Hanks talk about God nevertheless to not miss the final two episodes of the year, as those will set into motion the events that the entire series has been leading toward. So everyone be sure to tune in, because it sounds like Deb is finally gonna accept Quinn’s marriage proposal.

I'm still wanting to figure out what the fuck Deb was yelling about in the teaser trailer before the season started. Fixin to find out soon I guess
