Doakes is the only good part of season 2. The rest of it was just pretty awful. Jimmy Smits was amazing at the end of season 3 that I can't put 2 above it.

    4=1>3>2>5

Season 5 was all filler. It was also a lot of "Dexter fucks something up, gets insanely lucky" every episode.

Also, season 3 had one fantastic scene in it that really showed Jimmy's acting chops. The rest was crap.

I also think that her screaming "Oh my god, Oh my god" at the end of the trailer is a big hint of her finding out.
What about Quinn? He has to know by now, or at least have put together the pieces. He can't not know by the end of last season. Though whether he'd say anything to her about it is up in the air, I'm sure it won't be Chicago Mike that tells her since his character sounds like if he found out, everybody would know. And if he's anything like Doakes was, if there was something Deb finds out because of him, he'd be smart enough to come to the same conclusion.

While I agree Quinn should know, I don't think Deb will find out through him. She'll probably find out by catching him red handed - hence the "Oh god, oh my god, oh my god!"

Let's face it, she's very protective of Dexter, and if anyone told her he's a murderer, she'd freak out and probably kill the guy for talking shit about Dexter. The only believable way she can find out is catching him in the act, which I think is rather sad she didn't at the end of last season. Would have made for a much better finale.

Is it bad that I didn't even remember what happened in season 5 until I looked it up?

edit: Not saying it was bad, I enjoyed it, but I guess it was just a bit.. forgettable, I guess. When I tried thinking of the "last thing that happened in dexter" the only thing that kept coming to my mind was the trinity stuff, so I was thinking that the season I was forgetting about was before that <_<

the way s5 ended made the whole season forgettable, which kind of sucks because it didn't have to be that way

Dexter's always been a show about relationships vis-a-vis his inner serial killer. In S1, it was a brother. In S2, it was a lover. In S3, it was a friend. In S4, it was a father-figure.

Big part of the reason why S5 was kind of a flop was that the character Dexter has a relationship, Lumin, didn't exactly fit into a convenient role (you could arguably put her as a lover, but that has already been explored). Of course, Lumin was the saving grace of S5, which would have been a complete shit season otherwise. The Dexter character was, by far, the least interesting in S5.

Deb finding out about Dexter has lost its oomph, for reasons that have been stated, and won't be as grand as people say. She had the best opportunity in S5, and she walked away for no other reason than the plot called for it to do so.

Colin Hanks has landed a role most actors would kill for.
Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that the Good Guys star Mad Men alum is joining the cast of Dexter for a major Season 6 arc.
Like with most of the Showtime’s drama’s past guest stars (e.g. John Lithgow, Jimmy Smits), the specifics of Hanks’ role are being kept under insanely tight wraps. (His character description is not believed to be among the trio of new recurring roles producers released breakdowns for earlier this month.)

    This This This This.

I just finished marathoning all 5 seasons in about two weeks as well. After Netflix decided to dick me over after season 2, I started pulling the eps online and just got hooked.

Throughout all of season 5, all I could think of was how season 4 ended (JL did a very convincing job of making me hate and fear that character all at once.) Even though Rita was not one of my favorite characters, that shit still got to me on how unexpected it all was. As someone said before, in season 5 Dexter had way way way too many lucky breaks that took some of the fun away from the show and started shattering the concept of plausibility.

And don't get me started on the whole rape thing. I swear no matter where I see it on TV, its the number one concept that unites all bitches with the same "castrate/kill" mindset. Which is exactly how I knew how season 5 was going to go down.

Also, I agree with every god damn word Qal has posted in this thread. (order, eps, etc)

I liked Lumen but it was the rest of S5 I couldn't stand. It would have been at least "okay" in my book if they hadn't ended it the way they did. Made it feel like you could watch ~3 episodes and skip the rest of the season.
