I meant that there wouldn't be only one primary focus. I should have clarified that. With Mos Def as another guest star this season, there seems to be more than one focus for Dexter. I definitely agree with your statement though that Dexter will end up figuring out who they are and then hunt them down.

I think Matthews made a passing comment to her while he was in her car about it. Something about LaGuerta divorcing Batista because it would make her a better candidate for the promotion she just received? I'm pretty sure they broke up over her career advancement, although Batista may not know this specifically.

It was obvious in S5 they were having some marriage issues. Though Batista was pretty boss with how he got her to do what she wanted at the end of it. I'm assuming they might explain that all a little more in this season.

The problem with her being married to Batista is that he was getting himself in trouble with internal affairs and shit over punching that cop and such, which will all get dug up the higher someone goes while being associated with him.

Ditto. Really interesting way they're portraying this overarching theme of redemption. From what the two baddies were saying about the young guy's sister not being able to be saved, they probably have their own redemption they're carrying out since they're pretty clear-cut religious kooks.

Definitely agree, the whole scene where most def was standing up to the gang members was fucking great.

A little theory on what Mos Def's role will be...

With him being a Man of Faith and the main target this season being some sort of religious group, I think Mos Def will be the person Dexter befriends this year. This will allow Mos Def to go with his dark side a bit that never goes away and Dexter to have someone who knows religion to help him figure things out. In the end, Mos Def will sacrifice himself for Dexter so all can be forgiven for his past.
