completely inaccurate. like skirkle said, i'm married so this isn't even an issue for me. just talking about my experience when i was dating. also, i fully recognize that if i changed my standards i could've gotten laid a lot more easily. i just wasn't willing to change my standards. simply stating that if anyone, male or female, was willing to set the bar lower, that neither would have that much issue scoring. point is, some people just won't find that acceptable and so their standards are essentially what's prohibiting them from getting some, not what sex they are.

also, we're not talking about RADICAL CHANGE THE NORM shit chari. i'm glad ryko said something because you missed the point. just because something shouldn't be that way doesn't mean that it magically isn't. social standard is that a man approaches a woman. pretending that isn't how it is, is kind of pointless. some men are even turned off by women who are too forward, because whether they realize it or not, gender roles are important to them too and (again, whether they realize it or not) it's emasculating in a way to have a woman take charge like that.

men also tend to pay for the date, are expected to open doors and pull out chairs, etc. those are common expectations based on gender. sometimes that doesn't happen. sometimes people go dutch, sometimes women open their own doors and pull out their own chairs. there are other social standards that apply to timing, like waiting X amount of time before calling someone after a date, not fucking on the first date, etc. i'm pretty sure you adhere to the not calling for X amount of time "rule," so i'm not sure why it's so foreign to you that there are other "rules" in place as well.

we're all aware of these standards, and some of them are more important to us than others.

Ivve, while I generally get your point, a lot of it can be attitude too. I've heard a lot over the last few months or so that I can be intimidating to talk to (male or female); not because I'm overtly condescending or rude, but simply because the way I present myself makes it seem like I'm either arrogant or gives the perception that I see myself as better than them. This isn't something I'm doing actively, either, just the way I behave myself in normal conversation is apparently more pretentious than I intend. Even if I lowered my standards to the hood rats of the world, they're still not going to want to talk to me because of an attitude that I don't even know exists. I know this because I've tried to "dumb myself down" and talk to people at college parties or whatever, and still get avoided or ignored shortly after introductions.

I'm not complaining about this at all, just stating that it sometimes does go beyond only settling for 6s and up.
