Whoa. You're the only person I've ever seen admitting to liking those games. O.o

Anyway, can't really answer that well. Nostalgia blinders and whathaveyou, but I think the Shining Force series is one of the best in all of video games.

Neo was okay for what it was (I can't really consider it a SF game, though, despite dropping words here and there like Shining Force), and Exa was fucking annoying since it literally rehashed a lot of zones from Neo. The difficulty curve could spike pretty hard in both, though, and even with some top-notch gear at later phases, shit could one-shot you.

I got them on a whim and liked them, but I was in a very hack n' slash, dungeon crawly mood. Have since tried to replay both but could never finish them again

That's an expansion for an already existing arcade game. Saw those on Siliconera earlier and God damn I want that shit to get a console release. Looks pretty damn fun.

Edit: God this makes me want to play them again, my saturn's Action Replay memory chip no longer works though, so I can't save games. Had ANYONE gotten an Saturn Emulator to work with them?

Agreed 100% the whole of Shining Force III was amazing. Fuck Sega of America for only bringing out part I in the U.S. only -.-

A new game in the Shining RPG series is official, as of this week's issue of Famitsu. Dubbed Shining Ark, it's for PSP only, and developed by Chaos Rings and Wild ARMs studio Media.Vision.

Character designer Tony Taka has reprised his role again this time. Story-wise, a girl with a black wing washes ashore on a far off island at the village of Arcadia. Later on she meets up with the leader of a vigilante group (Freed), an elf/baker (Shannon), and a fisherman (Zynga - hah).
