How nice I am to people is inversely proportional to how long they have made me wait. If they're killing fast and the monster gets one over on them, help and give them the drops. If they kill painfully slow and multiwipe with apoc, kill and take all the drops. We all have limited playtime, and I don't like to waste mine when I could be doing something useful like afking in sea.

The first mob I ever stole was Ix'mnk. No regrets at all. A 12+ person party of Mage/nins wiped to it.
Most recently I stole Resheph. Some dipshits popped it in a group of about 6 with a war/sam and tried to kite it back to bluffalo. The War had no pdt gear and died. It went white and none of them attempted to claim, so I helped myself! If someone is going to waste time kiting a monster because they can't stop their all important xp fest, I don't mind taking it from them when they fail.

You probably missed a perfectly good photo op for random fail as Reseph wiped an entire xp alliance!

Honestly we were killing that thing fast. With an AF3+2 NIN and a Ukon WAR it went from 100-12% in maybe 7-8 minutes including Blue and Yellow proc.

These are the kinds of things that make me wish SE would change claim mechanics. If you have active (on mob or tank) people in your ally and within range of the mob it should stay claimed to your group. I guess there are times where it's nice that things work the other way (changing possession of a KI mob by having claimer die) but it seems like people capable of killing mobs lose them to dick groups when charmga or some nasty aoe takes out the front line and unclaims the mob temporarily. I don 't see SE changing things though so ultimately you just need to be more conscientious of making sure a back line job has significant hate on the mob.

I had the opposite happen when I was killing Briareus a while back. I got unlucky with MercStrike for 1111 and somehow managed to not be out of range for a colossal slam and went down. Bria then 3-shotted my WHM buddy, and the other group that was there to pop Bria said {Do you need any help?}, I said Yes, they claimed then invited me to ally with them, they finished him off (from ~20%) and let me have the 2 helms that dropped.

They had a free Bria, and I would not have faulted them for claiming/killing/keeping drops, but they were very nice about it. I stayed in zone and farmed up 3 pop items for them as a thank you. They helped me out, I gave them ~90k in pop items for the help.

Sucks you had a bunch of cockbags grab your yellow mob, but yellow is yellow. Dickheads will be dickheads.

I saw a jp duo group had a briareus go yellow, for some reason I told the people I was with to not claim, and let them recover. Instead of being grateful, they acted like dicks in say, and following us when we went to pop for KI's, etc. So after that, yellow is fair game, fuck everything. Got a free briareus shortly after that, got some tells but I've learned my lesson already. If you see an LS struggling, just wait for it to go yellow and take it. If I let something go yellow I deserve to have it stolen.

So what I seem to have gleaned from the contents of this thread is that some people are understanding and willing to give other people a hand if they're having a bit of bad luck and some people are not.

    Fascinating.

People on Siren should be taking notes, here. This is how Diabolos rolls.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if ls's on Siren had a giant "No Thank You" sign up when we merge. Diabolos is a good example of why the playerbase in general cannot have nice things.

What caused them to be dicks if you didn't do anything? Just b/c?

Generalizing is when you extend to the entire population, but whatever.

I'm pretty sure it's not against the rules here, but if I made the rules (and if you call someone a "faggot" on windower forum) I'd ban you and steal your mob too.

If you think "faggot" is common accepted slang for asshole you probably think "nigger" is acceptable slang for friend and you are in fact an ignorant fuck. Maybe you're not homophobic but it sure sounds like it.

Seriously, it makes you sound a lot less intelligent to people that matter, and instead of arguing freedom of speech or something you should spend your time reading a book or learning a trade or something to better yourself as a person.

Lucky though, I can't ban anyone in this thread now that I'm involved in it or isladar will murder me, but I really can't stand that shit.

It may be cool with your idiot friends and forum trolls, but you can't seriously be mad when you offend someone like you did that dramatic boy/girl in the screenshots and again here, with a probably overdramtic BG mod.

Before the homophobic slang, though, I agree. You help someone you should expect the same help back. I hope they screw over enough people that way and get blacklisted by everyone on the server. Bad karma.

To be fair the faggot name calling was done after they stole the mob. That said it doesn't make it right.

That was a shitty move by the group you helped, I also think that she/he just used the whole "faggot" thing as an excuse.

Stay away from online sports/fighting/fps games, where word "faggot" is common slur. I think person raging and yelling/msgin it, is usually as much of a homophobic as the subject of the slur is gay.

For my surprise even JP's are using it. Early days of FFXIV a group of NA's went to camp top of JP sp pt and of course /sayfest insued. JP's called the NA's "faggots".

Words change with he ebb and flow of time. Faggot : Douchebag as Nigga : friend.
Another example is that 'idiot' and 'imbecile' were once clinical terms used to describe clinical intellectual disability. So I could make the case that calling someone an idiot in the game is just as offensive to people with autism or cri-du -chat syndrome as calling someone a faggot is to homosexuals. Context should be taken into account. I didn't know Xeonha was actually gay and Xeonha should have known that there's no way I would have known he was gay. If you call someone a faggot for douchebaggery, it's not the same as calling someone a faggot for being gay.

If you think "faggot" is common accepted slang for asshole you probably think "nigger" is acceptable slang for friend and you are in fact an ignorant fuck. Maybe you're not homophobic but it sure sounds like it.
It's relative to your culture and environment actually. Who are you to make the case of what's commonly accepted and what's not? Where do you draw the line? Slang changes all the time. Words that had as much of an impact on someone 300 years ago don't have any weight today. You could be killed for calling someone a rapscallion 200 years ago, today people would look at you funny.

Last but not least, if you have any contention with the word faggot, I implore you to watch this educational documentary on the word's current use: http://www.southparkstudios.com/full...e12-the-f-word

    Actually,
    Two takes on Idiot:

    http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=idiot

    Imbecile for fun:

Faggot is a more recent development than I realized:

I have a new favorite website, obviously.

Yeah idiot/imbecile and moron are clinical terms.
"Imbecile" was once applied to people with an IQ of 26-50, between "moron" (IQ of 51-70) and "idiot" (IQ of 0-25).

South Park sums it up nicely:
Stan: "Why would we want Gay people to get out of town?"
Mayor: "You just admitted to spray painting "Fags get out of town!"
Cartman: "Ohhhh they think we meant gay fags"
Kyle:" Ohh hey that's not nice Mayor, just because a person is gay doesn't mean they're a fag

    And

Biker2: It says Faggot's original meaning was an old or unpleasant woman
Biker1: Well that don't apply to us!
Biker 2 Faggot was later defined as a bundle of sticks, then later a faggot-gatherer was person who collects firewood for meager income. Later Faggot was used to describe any awkward bundle to be carried and often used as an insult to elderly as if calling them useless baggage.
Biker1: So let me get this straight. Faggot was used as an insult to women, then sticks, then poor people then old people?
Biker2: It says in the 1900s faggot then became a perjorative referring to homosexuals and transgendered people in the US.
Biker3: WELL THIS WORD JUST KEEPS CHANGING ITS MEANING! WHATS IT GOT TO DO WITH US?
