That car payment is just killer. I would try to get out of it and get a beater car if I was in your situation. How did a family member allow you to go in on a $600/mo payment when you were making only $750 bi-weekly?

Anywho, I guess you have 0 savings. There are more things that goes into moving out. You will need to factor in cost for moving, cost for furniture, appliances (microwave, washer), dishes/silverware, etc. If you did get rid of that car and get something cheaper, there is a good chance your car insurance would be cheaper (I am not sure if you can just go the liability only route in your state).

Beyond that, there is nothing more precious than independence and freedom. There is a lot to learn and a lot to grow from it. Another thing, you new job would help you get into a better job. I am sure it will look better on the resume. The current job sounds like a $15-17/hr job while the other one is a $42k job, i am guessing. You will also lose some money due to taxes and health insurance, so factor in more money on that budget. Oh and get out of that car payment, everything would be doable if you didn't have that.

With a zero-interest family member loan like that, I would ask to halve that "car payment" so you can eat something other than ramen and water.

    Have to ask.

What's the job, and what's the car?

Sounds like you are moving from a good, hourly job to a career salary job. Forget the pay right now and think about how career jobs work. You will get annual raises, 401k/ira options and most likely the time you put in will continually raise your chances at promotions for more pay.

From the sound of your family help right now, your folks don't seem all that strapped and would help you financially if you run into some trouble during the move/first few months. Unless you are switching from porn site admin to sewage plant operator, this seems like a no brainer to me.

Right now I still live with my parents so I'm getting a pretty good deal on... Everything really, I pay rent but not very much. My biggest expense right now is my car payments. However if I take the job/move out my expenses will increase dramatically.

This is where my net income stands currently:
$1,593.60 per month (Only after taxes)
This is where my net income stands if I get the new job:
$3,522.00 per month (Only after taxes) (This includes an estimated mileage of 150/day at .51 per mile. Math: 150*.51*20=1,530.00, 1,992.00+1,530.00= 3,522.00)

Right now in my current situation that is a lot. But after I start budgeting:
    Current:
    Car: 600/month
    Phone: 95/month
    Rent: 300/month
    Insurance: 40/month
Car Insurance: Lumped in with rent
Fuel: 72/month (If I were to only drive too and from work)
    Groceries: Included in rent
    Electricity: Included in rent

    Total Expenses: 1,107.00

    Budgeted if I get/accept job:
    Car: 600/month
    Phone: 95/month
    Rent: 1,000/month
    Insurance: 50/month
    Car Insurance: 200/month
Fuel: 540/month (Only 150 miles per day)
    Groceries: 300/month
    Electricity: 120/month

    Total Expenses: 2,905.00

    Current leftovers:
    486.60

    If I accept the job
    617.00

After putting 20% into savings like a good boy
    Current
    389.28

    If I get/accept the job:
    493.60

I have a feeling I'm missing a few things in my budget but I have no fucking clue as to what.

Can anyone give me hints and tips?
Maintenance on your car. 150 miles/day is going to put a lot of wear on your vehicle

Water bill. (Not all places charge you for water, but some do)

Gas bill. (I assume it gets relatively cold where you live and you'll turn on the heat)

Going out money. Unless you plan on living in solitary confinement with no social interaction besides BG, I assume you'll want to go out (restaurants/bars/etc...).

    Renters insurance.

Putting money into your 401k or an IRA.

Money to budget for a vacation (separate from savings).

Odds and ends you never anticipate happening but will need to spend money for. (i.e. Oh shit, how did I get this huge rip on my nice suit jacket? Need to run and get a new one ASAP. Again, separate from savings. Savings should only be used for dire emergencies, like if you lost your job.)

Edit: Also reiterating the WTF 600/month for your car. How long are you paying this of for? At your current calculations about a third of your projected take-home pay would go to your vehicle, even more than your rent. That's ridiculous. If you've been living with your parents for all this time, how were you not able to pay for a car in cash?

What job are you driving 150/m a day? I was doing about 100 a day until recently, shit gets old fast. So you're going to be making about 68k/yr doing?

i really don't want to be a dick, but you should be saying "gross" where you say "net".

and then replace "leftovers" with "net"

again, sorry to be that fag.

If he is moving to Renton I am guessing that he is gonna be working for Boeing. I could be wrong tho.

Im originally from Renton, and unless the area has changed dramatically since I left, 1000/mo is a really nice apartment in that city
...you could stand to find a less expensive place or check out Kent which is next to Renton (would just have to deal with 405 or 167 traffic).

Another thing to take into consideration is if this new job will open you up to new opportunities down the line? Will this new job increase your chances of getting an even better job in a couple of years? If so, I would even be willing to make less money right now just to make significantly more in a few years.

    Do it.

Ask about getting that car payment cut a little

You can find an apt much cheaper than that, and you don't want to tie yourself down in a long term contract. Never know you might find some cool people there to share a place with or find a female.

Whoever asked about further job openings this job could offer nailed it on the head, should be your #1 thought.
