    Marvel Comics

Figured since people liked talking about Age of X, I'd start up this thread.

    Upcoming big storylines

    Fear Itself
Sin, the daughter of Red Skull, finds the Book of Skulls and the Hammer of Skadi. Hammers begin falling all over the world, ending up in the hands of some of the most powerful people(Titania, Hulk, Absorbing Man(?), Juggernaut, etc). Odin decides all of Asgard should leave Earth to "the serpent", fearing everything will be destroyed. Thor fights him and is punished as a result.

    X-Men: Schism
Some hope has finally come back to the X-family. After M-Day, person after person being killed, and almost being annihilated by Bastion, new mutants are being born around the world, with Hope being the progenitor. However, a split is happening between Wolverine and Cyclops. Some believe Wolverine's viewpoint, some Scott's.

There's a lot of other titles going on right now as well, but these seem to be the big two cross-over events right now.

First issue of Prelude to Schism was pretty good. All dialog, but great insight into the Scott/Xavier relationship.

For some reason I cannot get into Fear Itself. It just hasn't grabbed my attention yet. Doesn't help that they are overplaying the "you can't win against this" feeling. It's like watching Skyline...

I can't get into Fear Itself either which is a shame because Matt Fraction is one of my fav writers. I just think its a shitass storyline to be honest.

I have been catching up on a lot of old Spidey. I was never a big spidey fan but now I just cant get enough. I really enjoyed the recent Avengers arc when they took on the hood for the infinity gems. idk what other marvel I read. I am more of a DC boy at the end of the day. Geoff Johns and Grant Morrison are just my favesies.

Fear Itself is just starting, I think only 4 total stories are out and there are going to be 50 something total? So I'm just trying to be patient as they set up what is going on.
I've really liked the Uncanny X-Force line so far and I'm really interested in the AoA crossover. I also really like the Carnage miniseries which I thought was a great way to reintroduce the character. Plus Clayton Crains digital artwork is awesome.

I think the whole MMXI line for the X-Comics will be good, I love X-Force going to AoA. But I also love the idea of the New Mutants going after X-Man and Blink. Not to mention fallout from Age of X (Chamber/Revenant). It seems the whole mutant scene is trying to clean up all the loose ends sitting out there.

I just read Fear Itself #2 and I did not care for it one bit. And if it takes having to read every single tie-in to appreciate it, eff that.

As for Marvel titles that I really like, I have to say Uncanny X-Force is balls to the wall bad-assery to the max. Remender has really fleshed out every character, they're not just 90s bad-ass grim-dark killers. I mean, I actually don't hate Deadpool in this. I actually laugh at the shit he says. The reference to Jim Morrison in the latest issue was hilarious.

I know people don't put much stock in Ultimate Marvel anymore, but Death of Spider-Man (Ultimate) is going to be a pretty big series. The tie in with the Ultimates vs The New Avengers is pretty sweet too. Personally I don't know if Spider-Man will actually die. Maybe the character. The Ultimates have been trying to train Spider-Man to become a better super hero, so maybe he will shed the SM identity (weird as that would be) to become another character. Or maybe because of the Sinister Six getting free again he will fake his death and become a new hero to protect his identity. Although the six know who he is so I don't know what purpose that would serve. Last opinion is that Peter Parker dies, and someone else takes on the Spider-Man costume. Now that Bendis & Bagley are doing the comic again, it's pretty good. It neverlost it's touch to be, but there were a couple slow arcs.

I don't think they'd write off the whole line, as it's still a pretty big seller. I hope not anyway.

The Ultimate X-Men line looks to be good too. Ultimate X miniseries has been great, though its been taking forever.

    Real Life Captain America covers

To celebrate the release of the upcoming movie Captain America: The First Avenger, Marvel Comics asked their best artists to design covers celebrating the real heroes of America. The impressive roster of talents who contributed to the series include Joe Quesada, Marko Djurdjevic, Alex Maleev, David Mack, Skottie Young, Ed McGuiness, Greg Horn, and Dave Johnson. The art will run through June and July on variant editions of all their key comics such as Uncanny X-Men, Thor, Amazing Spider-Man, and many more, so keep your eyes peeled for them this Summer!
I like a lot of these, I hope they release prints of them.

Prelude to Schism sucks. Another X-Men extinction storyline, like we needed another one. I guess that is the most interesting aspect of their story right now though. Curse of the Mutants was awfully lackluster so it won't be as bad as that was. Fear Itself too kinda has me sighing. The only thing I appreciate from this "event" is the return of Journey Into Mystery. That is the best read they've got right now, that and the Speedball story in Homefront. I do like Uncanny X-Force too. That is awesome and needs no explaining. Anyways, how could you explain such glory? You cannot! You can only read it and see for yourself.

Announced today that in X-Men Legacy the X-Men are finally going to make an effort to track down missing team members Havok, Polaris, and Marvel Girl who haven't been seen since the cosmic Marvel War of Kings crossover. And a new female version of Ghost Rider is on the way.

I just read FF #3 and it blew me away. I haven't read anything that good in a long time. So many great references to Marvel history.

I always wondered what happened to those characters. I just figured they were in a book I didn't follow. So how did that whole shit wrap up? Vulcan and Black Bolt killed eachother and now Gladiator is the leader of the Shi'ar?

It's part of a larger X-Men storyline where Cyclops is trying to find all the missing mutants. Havok, Polaris, and Marvel Girl are in space and so Rogue's team is looking for them. the New Mutants are looking for X-Man(I think it was in the issue that was released this week, haven't read it yet). Not sure if it is going to cross into any other books. Also female Ghost Rider? I haven't cared about Ghost Rider in forever and this just screams that Marvel has no idea what to do with the character.

Black Bolt basically committed suicide to kill Vulcan. Gladiator took over to prevent civil war. The story lead into The Thanos Imperative and then Annihilators.

Essentially but the Inhuman Kree rule the Shi'ar now as well if I remember right so Gladiator actually answers to Medusa now. Havok, Polaris, Marvel Girl, and the Shi'arian Korvus left the Starjammers following the war and intended to head back to Earth. Apparently they got sidetracked as they never returned. No mention of Korvus in the Marvel article earlier either so not sure if he's still with the group or not. All that was said is they receive a telepathic call from Rachel who seems to have gaps in her memory and Rogue leads a team of X-Men into the galaxy to search for the three of them.

So excited for the return of Havok. I've always loved the Summers family (Cyclops, Havok, Vulcan, X-Man, Cable).

heh thought I was the only weird person that liked Havok. Seems there's going to be a lot of the Summers family in action this year now as well.

As for Ghost Rider I haven't read it since Dan Ketch was the Rider and Blaze just hung around him helping out. Don't think changing to a female version is going to make much of a difference in turning the character into a must read suddenly.
