Where do you guys find all of your comics? One of my friends told me about the DC 52 reboots, so I decided that this is probably the best time for me to get back into it. So far, I've read the first 3 issues of Batwing, first two of Dark Knight, Nightwing, and Flash as well. On the Marvel side, I started with Uncanny Xmen #1, Wolverine #1 (the one where he starts his own academy), and Incredible Hulk #1. Oh and I randomly grabbed the first issue of X-23 for a dollar and I really enjoyed it. I'm kind of interested in her storyline.

I want to get some new stuff but I don't know where to look. The first thing I want to do is read 1-15 of X-23 so I can be current on that, but they didn't have any of her issues (besides #1 and the brand new #16) at my local comic store

Anyone have any suggestions for a newbie like me?

I'm a sucker for a good Batman comic, as I enjoy his universe the most. I'll probably just stick to Batman, Batwing, Nightwing, and probably the Justice League. (I tried reading about Flash but there's so many different versions of him that it gets really confusing)

I kind of need help figuring out what I should follow on the Marvel side of things. Growing up, I always liked Marvel superheroes so I'm kind of excited to start reading about them again. I just need help figuring out which story arcs are the best for me to get started with.

Well with Fear Itself over (I think?) this should be a good time to jump on to some Marvel series. I'm also really liking the Ultimate Comics, namely Ultimate Spider Man and X-men, both of which have only 2 or 3 issues out right now.

As for DC, these new 52s are killing my wallet lol. Between me and my friends I think we're following like half of em. I was pleasantly surprised by Swamp Thing and Animal Man, they're both awesome, freaky series that I didn't know much about before. And if you want to get into the Flash, I would suggest reading Geoff John's six part series Rebirth. And the new Flash series is quite awesome, one of my favorite of the new 52s that I have read.

2 more cancelled books: Victor Von Doom and Destroyers I was actually really interested in the Von Doom one, he is one of my favorite villains ever. Destroyers could have been fun, She-Hulk gets no love anymore.

October Sales stuff

I'm always interested in numbers, dunno if anyone else is
-DC obviously dominated the sales charts. I think December is gonna be the key though. I'll be interested to see how many people gives a lot of the new 52 a read past the first 2-3 issues.
-Red Hood and the Outlaws outsold Ultimate Spider-Man and Uncanny X-Force? Really people...
-4 of my favorite Marvel books(X-23, X-Factor, Avengers Academy, Thunderbolts) hover around 20-25k sales still. I thin comic creators should find out if I like a book/characters. If so, it will prolly lead to low sales
-I, Vampire is my favorite DC new 52 book and has one of the lowest sales


With Marvel cutting back on what they are putting out and my assumption that DC will start ending books after 4, I really hope the big 2 don't become more homogenized. What I mean is, I think fringe books tend to bring in readers that maybe aren't initially interested in Superman, Batman, Wolverine, or the Hulk. I think you can shoot yourself in the foot by eliminating books that don't hit a certain standard and turn off potential readers.

or just have Batman and Wolverine make a cameo in EVERYTHING :/

I know this isn't the DC thread but I found I, Vampire not that great. Animal Man & Swamp Thing are my favorite books so far. All Star Western is surprisingly good.

If only there were more writers like Morrison, Hickman, Remender, Ellis and to a lesser extent, Bendis. There are other good writers but names don't come to mind. I think that would boost sales. I long ago gave up on reading books only for the characters. Would be amazing to see Moore or Gaimen write for DC or Marvel.

Uncanny X-Force: BOOSH! More AoA in your face! AoA Nightcrawler is great. New Avengers was good too. Dark Avengers were so great, they had to be brought back. I'm looking forward to where the story will go.

The Nova and Phoenix force thing is the most interesting to me. The X-Terminators are kind of interesting, kind of the opposite of X-Force in the AoA line maybe? the rest *shrug*

Legacy ...gotta wait again to see how Lorna, Rachel, and Alex react /lesigh. We already know what happens with them, which kind of killed the arc for me.

I work on the production staff for Marvel so it was just kind of part of my job XD

I try to sneak in some of my favorite things whenever available... There was this one franklin comics page where the editor asked me to draw in Franklin playing some videogame cause it was a Blank TV otherwise, so I imitated Mega Man, but used Iron Man instead and did a silly fake game-screencapture drawing hehe.

usually i get to censor a ton of stuff too >___> Like stuff Frank Cho draws. He tries to sneak in SO MANY THINGS. OMG. ... and it's weird cause then people walk by my desk and monitor and sees... body parts... enlarged... and... aksjdf;laksje;fkljelfkwlkfj.
