i never liked dani. is new mutants the book that everyone from new-xmen went to? that was a fucking tight book.

nah, new x-men(with surge, dust, etc) aren't being used right now. Last I saw them as anything other than background filler was in the first X-23 issue.
New Mutants is Dani Moonstar(who they basically made uber badass Cheyenee warrior chick, read New Mutants 27), Cypher, Warlock, Magma, Magik, X-Man, and Sunspot. Karma and Cannonball should be part of the team again in the next issue, they both had their personal issues after Second Coming.

I have a feeling they will trim that roster down, but who knows.

That was my gut reaction too when I bought it. Generation Hope is going to tie into Schism(I think it is the only X-men title that does directly), so maybe it has something to do with that.

I was totally uninterested in Ultimate Spider-Man, and the Ultimate universe in general, but I think I might pick up the first issue and the last Ultimate Fallout just to see how they use this character

It would have been so cool if they brought in an Ultimate version of Miguel O'Hara (Spiderman 2099) would have served the diversity angle and still had a spideruniverse tie.

I certainly wouldn't complain about it, but I like that it seperates Ultimate Marvel from 616 Marvel more and that it creates a minority big time hero of a well established character that people might pick up. Spider-Man 2099 was an interesting book, but it was future Spider-Man and not just Spider-Man, like Ultimate is.

I recommend picking up Uncanny X-Force right now with Mark Brooks while he's on the book But I'm a huge Brooks fangirl... I just love his stuff.
