I`m guessing arlene being bumped to supporting char is to setup her demon baby storyline. The baby can see dead spirits okay, we now know Lafyette can communicate with dead spirits. Oh the main antagonist a witch, Marnie can communicate with dead spirits. Vamps are going to need a medium who can help defeat the possessed witch call in Lafyette help take out Marnie, get rid of demon baby save vamps. Those are three stories that weave into one another. PosMarnie is going to try and make vampires walk in the sun sometime soon. Weave in Jessica Bill and all the rest of vamps everyone in the show is now involved. Except maybe Sam and Alcide. And those two will intertwine because Sam is dating that chick who`s ex was Alcide`s packmaster.

Oh this is all speculation by the way. In other words everyone chill out and watch and enjoy the fucking show.

are the books worth reading? i was late to the party and watched seasons 1-3 non-stop about two weeks ago and have been following season 4 so far, and while it's still fun i don't like it nearly as much as the early episodes. as others have said, too many subplots so that each story hardly progresses from episode to episode.

only thing i would like to see involving the witches is a connection, no matter how goofy, to the crazy church from season 1/2 with a gratuitous scene with naked Jessica and Sarah

Books are good, but they are only from Sookie's PoV. They are also very short, 300'ish pages or so, so they are fast reads. Starting from Season 4 of the show (book 4) you can basically treat the books and the show as independent from each other. They thinly share the same "main plot", but everything else is different

I think its getting to the point of too many side stories and they are unable to invest much time in any single story... even the "main" story only had about 10-15 minutes of airtime. I liked the episode outside of all the Tommy stuff (Sam is a great actor though - it really felt like it was Tommy in another body). All Sam has tried to do is help Tommy and all Tommy does is fuck over Sam left and right, getting kinda tired of it.

They really need to consolidate the stories. It really detracts from the whole show.

Nah I watched the re-run, you can clearly hear a gun shot once the screen changes after Jason gets tackled, They obviously are not going to kill off Jason so she probably just gets really burned or something.

Didn't Bill survive outside for a significant amount of time in an earlier season, and just get slowly burned instead of bursting into flames? I thought--and I could be remembering incorrectly--that the time it takes a vampire to die in the sun is inversely proportional to their age (so she would burn really slowly)?
