Yeh that's what I mean from my 2nd post, but I'm not sure if this is a preference thing as it seems different people are taught different ways of the art of interviews. However, I feel it is slightly important to know your salary (but then if you're on the interview chair you should already know, afterall, you don't apply to a job somewhere until you know how much you're paid, right?).

In my view if I was doing the interviewing, if the person being interviewed asks purely about money/benefits then I would probably lose interest quite quick in them as well.

You shouldn't ask about salary, vacation days, sick leaves etc. on an interview. It gives an impression that you're only doing it for the money and that you're not serious about the job. Of course, you're doing it for the money (after all, we'd all rather sit at home and do whatever the fuck we want, but that's besides the point), but you don't want to tell them that. You shouldn't discuss those things until you're offered the job.

Just because they're interviewing people for a specific position, doesn't actually mean the position is open. No one is guaranteed the spot; they may simply be considering hiring someone, but want to look around what else is out there. Or considering expansing, and want to see if there's any potential candidates. The position isn't actually guaranteed anyone.

I think that it went very well. I got a bit tongue tied out of nerves a few times and I did end up asking about the wages because the advice to not ask about the wages came too late! I think they were quite impressed when I whipped out a notebook of questions for them (thanks to you, BG). I will find out next week, and there is orientation next Friday if accepted.

If I don't get it, I will simply continue to sit around the house and play video games while living off my husband's wages. Sadly, due to my Generation X apathy, either would be fine really.

Ah darn was too late, was going to suggest these,

1. What do you like most about working here or the position
2. What do you like the least

Is always good to throw them off guard. Granted I do a lot of hiring and interviewing and nobody has actually ever used these at me.
