How do I mine fish?

err... In order to force an update early, I change some files and do the "file check," right?

After I have the .dats, I use a Data browser like Pebble's POLUtils to try and find new items? Where would the new items be hiding?

On the king drops, No most of its crap, I think hecatomb Legs still have a spot in some Weaponskill sets... but outside of that IDK.

I don't know about job selection, but isn't like tumbler trunks nearly identical in stats. Edit: herp derp nvm I thought heca legs was 6/18 not 8/20

Right on the force update. Since it's 110MB download or so a few new folders will be created, so folder ROM/262~267 or so should house new files (also might be a few in folder 261).

I hope this isnt spam, but compared to other updates how big is 110mb? Seems smaller then normal? which is expected im assuming given no cap increase or huge additions like Abyssea was, that Void watcher might be just as big as abyssea.

Actually after reading that and thinking about it, it won't be as big. Smaller than normal indeed and most of it will just be updates to existing zones-- maybe just ROM/261~264 at most for new stuff.
