the only problem here is its a force change. Most people are quite comfortable with the current payment method and would very much like to keep it the same.

Of course if they added more methods of paying people did not have to be forced to do, no one would care.

But its still a inconvenience to a large chunk of the playerbase, and it just begs the question as to why this is not only Forced, but using a third party (ClickAndBuy) who has such a terrible reputation.

Ya, I just don't understand why it's forced. Optional like the Tokens would have been amazing. I haven't thought about my CC in years. To actively have to throw money on just to keep playing is going to be extremely annoying for those times I forget.

Not as retarded as forcing a mandatory inconvenience that is completely unnecessary to your entire player base. I don't agree with "THE SKY IS FALLING" people.. But that doesn't make this move any more logical.

I had to switch cards a few times to pay for my account, somehow that = fraud and I got banned, never had another company get mad that I switched cards just to pay them, every other company was more than happy to take whatever payment they could get as long as it was valid. Could have started over, but no, fuck that. They didn't want my money, so they're not getting it. Ever again.

This - they must make a freaking fortune out of people who aren't playing much but keep forgetting to cancel their accounts meaning cash coming in month after month. Then they ignore all the feedback they must have seen on all the forums about the FF14 billing options and people wanting a direct montly payment option like POL had - and actually remove the option from their current paying customers (not those Fantasy Final Fantasy 14 paying customers who aren't paying) and piss the ones GIVING them money off.

I swear sometimes with SE they must intentionally think of the most arkward way to do things - it's like a supermarket sticking one of those TV gameshow assault courses (like the shit off Gladiators or something) on the way to the checkouts - people are just going to think fuck it and not bother... and there'll be other MMOs out there waiting to snap up the disaffected. Yep the changes piss me off - I've lost the option to pay in dollars (this whole direct equivalence thing they've got going on screws EUs endlessly), I've lost the monthly payment system that worked easily for me (forget about it and always have the option to play available), click and buy has one of the shittiest reputations I've seen going around for a loooooong time so no way am I going through them and now we've just got the added fart on once a month or whenever (but not that many of us probably have a spare £100 around to bulk buy tonnes of crysta and stockpile immediately) of putting crysta onto the account.... oh and it ain't even a once a month can sit down after payday and do it thing because they've moved to 30 day billing now - it's just a snowball of inconvenience wrapped up in an outer coating of fuck you.

I can understand the logic, some idiot at the HQ has told them they can get fantasy money in advance from people who probably won't use it all in their crysta crap, and that they can remove their payments processing division and probably accompanied this with a powerpoint and lots of graphs (because you could convince people in suits and management that global genocide was a good idea if you presented it with a few multi-coloured graphs) but it's just the fact they've completely ignored the overwhelming negative feedback on this for FF14 that makes me wonder what the fuck they're drinking. Yes, add crysta as an option - even add the ability to send crysta gifts to other people's SE accounts (would be awesome for those people subbing out friends who can't afford to pay one month etc)... but the removal of the payment system in place and outright replacement with C+B and the way the FAQ and advance stuff completely missed that fact out is what's sticking in people's throats - while not directly lied to, it was deception by omission really - especially when most people openly feared two things when the ID merge was announced: them fucking it up (particularly with cross-region ones where the SE ID was migrated when given the option), and them adding in FF14's payment shite.

I just happen to like having my card billed about the same time every month, knowing it's ticking over and I don't have to think about it till 2014 or whenever it expires. Now people have to either run the C+B gauntlet, or make a concious decision to keep paying - rather than the inertia subscribers who just forget about it - I'd bet a lot of people now they have to think about it and actively transfer the £20 or whatever their IDs are costing them each month will start to look and cut down mule numbers and cancel characters (hell I thought about it when faced with the whole lot on one bill today).

The number of people who pay for social reasons is probably a moderate amount, and the people who play who have done it all and just casually get on with friends waiting for 99 is also more than likely a moderate amount. Both of those groups of people know this game is dead, so all you really have left are fanboys, new players (small amount) and those who have no interest in starting a new MMO and will go play BF3 (me)

I really just don't get it. It makes absolutely no sense. I've had rants and discussions with everyone I know who plays and we always reach the same conclusion.

There IS a legitimate reasoning behind it. It's been brought up before. If people overbuy the Crysta, the extra will never be used, etc, etc. They've done the same thing with the New York subway system over the last 5-7 years.

Guess what happened. Everyone fucking hates it.

I'd like to see a Q&A question to the Dev/CM's about this and actually get a response.

it likely is, but what i do find amusing is that yeah you will have extra every time you go to pay $1-2 in crysta but the ultra amusing and less of affect to the players but of a far greater gain to SE is the fact you can never actually completely clear out the change, the $0.40 extra SE gets from every player reminds me of a financial fraud that happened in the air force not to long ago where someone docked $0.01 from everyone's pay check and made a ridiculous sum out of it, and SE is doing the same exact thing. I'm not going to cry about losing $0.40 but im sure SE would love the free $25million off the game.
