Has no one pointed out Pchan's hypocrisy yet? Here's a helping hand to whoever wants to do it. Sort by date to find Pchan's "I hate Abyssea and want my Usukane to live on forever" break.
http://www.ffxiah.com/player/Leviathan/Pimpchan#equip
Only problem with that - is he used the same method to accuse me of taking a "I hate abyssea, I want Usukane to be forever" break - which I didn't... FFXIAH gear acquisition data can be skewed by server transfers and having the link to the LS Community go wonky - which it has for me in the past.
The guy took a break at the same time Abyssea came out. It was painfully obvious when he came back, he was still running around with full Usukane for weeks, and I wasn't the only person who saw him or noticed. Also, his ffxiah profile says "I am back since ashittea is over gimplets."
This. The guy had a major breakdown because Usukane wasn't top dog any more, and Abyssea was "easy" (note: he never even tried Visions before quitting). It was positively hilarious when he eventually signed back in after Heroes was pretty much done and everyone on BG had at least one Emp and decided to start doing quests in La Theine on his lv80 full Usukane+Destroyers Monk. There is absolutely no way for even Pchan to not notice how much of a hypocrite he's being.
I had my Farsha done before I got all my BST body seals because the SE random fuck you generator was having a laugh at me being 9/10 for a good few weeks and throwing out every seal BUT.
There is however, a collossal infestation of full pinkjas around Briareus at the moment which does annoy me - you're a ninja, you're sleek, stealthy, you've got generally piss easy NMs for seals - and you're dressed like an escaped kids' TV character?!
I loved Pchans rants about how his Salvage gear was still the best and so on and so on. Shit was always a good laugh. Guys such a retard.
That conversation spirals off into absurdity, culminating on Pchan's side currently with
as if predicting there would be rejuvenated content was 1) a surprise and 2) relevant to gear. This gear and the weapon is the kind of stuff you full time so yes you got it around that time.
And yes all "this" because you threw a random statement about players being mad because they lose status gear when it reality they get mad because the game suddenly got unbalanced. Hey if you dig my posts of last year after the first expansion you'll see that I predicted them revamping "old" events so who is right ?
Apparently when arguing with someone who says you are wrong, you can point out some other time when you were right and win the argument? Your honor, I couldn't have shot that man, I predicted Boston Rob would win Survivor last year.
The first part of the quote is similarly absurd. Pchan is using the scan dates on the AH as law of when you obtained something. Looking up my old character on Quetz, I apparently obtained Mirage Jubbah (top of the list) on Christmas in 2009. This is news to me, because I was in Philadelphia at my parents' house without a computer on that day.
Oh, and apparently I killed Byakko for haidate and axe on the same day I finished CoP on the same day I first bought dusk gloves on the same day I finally equipped a pole grip on the same day I got Askar Body on the same day I think I got the point across.
Anyway, yeah, the AH timestamps are wrong and inaccurate and this is a known fact unless you're Pchan. For fuck's sake, his character on Levi shows full Usu and Black Belt all obtained on the same day, along with Shenlong's. Ugh, idiots.
Finally, he's insinuating that the huge masses of people who bitched about Ada/madaberk no longer being the best piece evar were upset over "balance" and not their penises.
Now pchan is saying he wants random synergy augments over static ones.
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/th...l=1#post168255
I hate synergy augments so much. If it had static augments via Magian trials, then it could at least go on a storage slip.
SE Employee 1: Hey, I have a great idea!
SE Employee 2: What?
SE Employee 1: Let's give players storage slips to store all of their garbage, then give them the ability to augment it so it can't go on the slip anymore
SE Employee 2: Dude, that's totally awesome! Let's do it!
The fact that SE is asking us terrifies me. It really seems like they don't realize that no one wants to spend dozens of hours farming to get STR-1 DEX-1 CHR+2 on their Hagun.
Or turn in hundreds of trophies for Haste4 legs.
Or kill hundreds of NMs to try for a shot at the legendary 14%potency/Refresh body.
Besides, Pchan wants random augments, proof enough it is a terrible idea.
I'm just glad they're asking rather than just throwing us another bullshit random fire resist+2 system. Maybe the overwhelming response will help demonstrate to them just how much the playerbase fucking hates random augments.
Being a poker player, I don't mind the RNG that much. Sure it will fuck you sometimes, sometimes you will get super lucky though. Seems boring to have to grind without the anticipation of something awesome coming up next. I would rather grind 10,000 with a chance of getting lucky in the first 100 than have to grind 5,000 knowing I won't get anything until it's done.
I've always felt incremental steps towards a goal is better than waiting for luck, but I'm not a lucky person in video games. I can appreciate a good round of poker, but if it took you an hour and a half to play any single hand, I'm sure you'd not have nearly as much fun with the game. I can't think of any part of XI's random distribution that isn't a nightmare, so it's hard to have any faith in the system not being a miserable failure.
Perhaps if SE had a track record of proper implementation of such a system people wouldn't hate it so much. They are trying to make a slot machine, and if done properly I think people would prefer it. But you are right, it would be safer to just choose a boring grind over a slot machine that never pays out(or one that you can only pull the lever once every 3 hours).
Part of the issue too, aside from randomness and trash augments, is the dilemma for perfectionists.
A player goes out and acquires, we'll say Melee Gloves with STR+5, Critical Hit Damage +4%. Those would far and away be the best gloves for Victory Smite, and probably for TP. A few days later, someone goes out and gets Melee Gloves with STR+6, Critical Hit Damage +5%. Does the perfectionist trash his STR+5/CritDmg+4% gloves and try for +6/+5, knowing it may take hundreds, perhasp thousands of tries to get such a pair, or does he settle for the +5/+4 gloves, and never feel quite satisfied?
I realize the gloves are absurd, but just an example.
My only problem with static is they pretty much say in the post Static augments will be worse than what we'd get from Random.
I don't like the idea of Static because almost all relic is shit to begin with, so unless they rewriite every stat or add some really amazing ones, Most relic will stay shit. I point you to THF Relic firstly, Which every single piece is pure shit outside of our hands for TH whoring.
I'd vote static if i had faith they would make them worthwhile, I'd take random augments that take time but are worthwhile, over junk thats easy to get but ain't worth a damn. I'm working on theory here though, like everyone else. Eh, almost disgusts me i agree with Pchan
You're agreeing with Pchan, that should tell you something. Honestly I wouldn't mind random if it was a small pool of 3-5 possible augments (and no shit one like elemental resists) with a range of maybe to 1-6 on the increments so that it wouldn't be a total crap shoot trying to get anything worthwhile. The problem comes from the fact that SE wouldn't never do something like that, there are always 10-20 possible augments, or more and the range can be pretty absurd too, so if the Random Number God hates you (and boy does he ever hate me) then you will probably never see a piece with optimum augments.
i thought Synergy Augments we're very tame... Only problem is the random pool being a bit too... random.
I just don't trust their "Static Upgrades" idea, its setting it all up to be useless content.
