im prolly a bit out of the loop, but why all the animosity towards kingfury lol? And yes he does have an emote for his Ukko's lol.

Cause he was acting like a moron on the official forums, so everyone got annoyed with him, and its fun to make fun of those who annoy you, we'll call it 3rd grader complex, now get us SS's of those emotes! Before I have go tell him throwing is terrible for 10 pages in one of his threads just for him to come back and say its awesome, then say thats not what he meant.....
Kingfury isn't really stupid, honestly, he's just misguided and his ego is far too big for the ideas he has. He's had one good idea so far but he thinks he's god's gift to SE now. And /this /shit /is /fucking /stupid.
Maybe I missed it. What was his good idea?
FFXI Gym or something like that > a way to skill up and stuff I think, don't really remember, was too long to read D;
Yeah I'm not sure what the actual content of that post was really because I find it so hard to sift through all of his fluff. Fucker needs Cliff's Notes. But the gist of it was fairly decent.
Yeah i wouldnt say he's stupid... but i will say his ego is a bit bloated lol...
Exactly what experiences are people missing out on now with Abyssea leveling? Waiting around for hours with your flag up, only to get invited to a party full of terribad players, taking weeks, sometimes months to hit 75? Someone enlighten me, how does this make someone better? There were gimps then and gimps now.
One could argue that for all the downfalls of old EXP, the exploration elements were "fun" along with the intrinsic value of being in a good party in an era where most parties were terrible. Exclusivity as it were.
Some people also enjoyed the idea of being mid-level as they'd usually be excited as to what would come later down the road. The thrill of the hunt so to speak. When you hit 90 in 2 days, it's like "oh... on to the next one."
Abyssea has leveled the playing field but also made EXP totally mechanical. You join up, do nothing and rake in EXP.
True to a degree, but most of us did that for years and I think feel pretty content with that ;p
I honestly think that for some people, it isn't about getting to endgame as quickly as possible and grinding endgame events. For some people, the game is leveling. They log in, get some levels, and feel accomplished. Gearing is sort of important but not the big deal for these people. So with Abyssea and people blowing through their levels, it isn't the same game anymore. Which means they should quit. But these people don't get that.
I'll be real, I hate WoW endgame for the most part, but I like leveling in that game. I had like 15 toons, all at varying levels. I hardly ever played my "main" (my only 85) because I didn't care much for endgame and only played it for PvP and collecting achievements. FFXI was exactly the opposite. Leveling was fun, at times, but excruciatingly frustrating at other times. And endgame was fun, so leveling was just a cockblock to doing the fun part. For people who love leveling and consider leveling the whole game, they should either quit and find another game or (zomg) go level the way they used to. Start a linkshell. Static with each other. Problem solved. It's not hard.
But yeah, I know there are people who play this game just to level up their characters and for pretty much nothing else, maybe questing and whatnot, but to them, the game is about raising your levels. Not really wrong, I suppose, but they have to start to learn that most people don't view the game that way.
If there's so many people that feel that way, they should make a club and XP on their own instead of dragging others into their LV50 fetish.
this is the thing that I was arguing about in that akujima thread.
I actually like leveling, so...I join xp parties.
I can't seem to drill into some of these people's heads that it's really not that hard to get a party. they think "only 10 people are seeking" compared to 100+ people. forgetting that those 100+ people were probably seeking for days because there is no tank/healer and half of them were rank 1 thfs.
since coming back I've only had it twice where I flagged and couldn't get a pt, and that's usually because I was seeking on say blm with 4 other blms also seeking.
Imop, xping and the xp-culture were standins for content. Now there are a billion things to do once you hit 75+. Literally dozens of endgame event systems that you could do for weeks. We don't need experience point party as an "event" anymore, and it was a shitty boring event when we had it.
I don't think the Abyssea system is a perfect one but I don't miss the old exp system as a whole. I do miss some aspects of it - adventure etc as stated, but it was such a tedious grind and having to lfp etc took a lot of the fun out of leveling. I would love for there to be a fun way of leveling up which you see in other MMOs.
Leveling up was never fun for me, but I LOVED meriting. I really really liked meriting with people with amazing gear, like relics/speed belts/dusk+1/hq abjuration stuff like that, probably because I had shitty/average gear, but I knew what I was doing, and I could crush the shit out of them parses, and always would, and would always parse. I use to find great enjoyment in that. I actually had almost capped merits for 7 jobs before the introduction of abyssea =| That aspect of the game has been taken away from me now, and I do sort of miss it, but fuck the old grind to get there.
I hated meriting. The whole needing bards and only allowing certain jobs was utter bullshit.
Man, I leveled back in the day when people wanted Smns when they couldn't find a Whm. You guys don't know rough D:
Yar his Gyms idea had some things in common with grounds of valor. King basically started cumming all over himself and gushing like a school girl because he thought the dev team included his ideas then it took about 10 pages to explain to him hey you had a good idea but there's no way SE implemented it in two weeks.
