Just tossing out the obligatory OHHHHH Starcade. To be honest I kind of miss his sillyness on the official forums. It was a nice change from the usual dumbfuckery.

On a side note Vanda suggested riding Galkas. I has no photoshop and or art skills but I think this is just as good as kings work in concept.

On another note, I've been terribly out of the loop since high school as I don't pay much (if any) attention to releases or news in the console/handheld gaming world. I'm not a snooty PC gamer by any means - I'm simply not much of a gamer. What FF1 remake is that video based on? I have to find it and play it now.

I believe that's the PSP Dawn of Souls remake.

The last time I was there, there was no such area. The BG community is extremely hostile to anyone that isn't as elite as they are. And before you ask, no, I haven't been banned from BG. But if you're going to ban people, just ban them. The whole thing where they change the banned user's avatar to some psychadelic anime dude shaking baby rattles is completely unnecessary, no matter how much they deserved being banned.

I dont think anyone's ever been outright thunderbanned (not trying to backseat mod, just an observation) but the ones I have seen get banned in the same thread have usually responded to 'random question thread, read it' with 'omg how was i supposed to know you're all fags' or something along those lines. Hell, most of the people complainging about BG seem either like they have either brain damage, personal vendettas, are 14 and think know what the fuck, or a combination of all 3.

Another part of the wonderful irony is, if you're afraid to post on the forums for whatever reason, being cordial to a person in a PM goes a long way. Even some of the people that are considered renowned dickheads on these forums have been very helpful in PMs because I take my time writing them to be as coherent and be polite about everything I'm asking. If I had to venture to guess, most of the people whining about BG elitism are the people are cry in their own threads about start insulting everyone and then are too blinded by their pants on their head to figure out why.

I challenge you to name a single one where Summoner is the best choice that doesn't fall into the categories I named.

I don't care about best case. Many jobs overlap eachother in usefulness. I only care about viability.

As a 90 Summoner with 5/5 AF3+2 and capped skill, I'd love an excuse to actually use the job.

Personally, I use it all the time for all kinds of activities, both solo and group. If you want a very specific strategic use for abyssea, then here you go: SMN is one of the most effective
You can't just assume that everyone in any given group will have every ideal job for everything covered. SMN doesn't need to be the #1 best choice for 20 different strategies in order to get used. It simply has to be acceptably effective and viable. And there is very little that SMN isn't viable to be used at. There's a huge difference between strategically useable and "#1 absolute best." It doesn't have to be the best. It just has to be good. But being someone from BG, maybe you don't realize that.

If you look at something at work, at school, on the bus, I'd rather not have a big cartoon image of galkas and tarus being super best friends in my background. Personal choice, I know.

Then turn images off when you're in a place where you don't want people to see you're not doing work when you should be. Would be a lot simpler than adding 2384765 entries to your ad blocker.

I like how he throws this out there, and then fails to name anything, even 1 thing that SMN would be effective at, or fuck even strategically useful on. Or how. That last sentence perfect encapsulates his attitude and why he will never get it though. "Accomodate me because I won't accomodate you"

That melee SMN thread is giving me a migraine. That Alhanelem guy completely ignores every one of my posts, then pretends no one has ever given him good arguments.

Then he's all butthurt cause BG called him retarded for wanting claustrum for his melee SMN.

I don't visit it unless linked to a thread there anymore; it's possible that conditions there have improved, but I haven't seen evidence of that. For me, it started when commenting in a thread that I was going for Claustrum in a relic weapon thread. That went downhill extremely fast as I was torn limb form limb at even the thought of trying to get a relic staff. Eventually they labeled the forum rank for newer posters "Melee SMN" because of this. Later, BG forumers would find photographs of a cosplay costume of mine and photoshopped it to ridicule me further. Ever since, I have come to view BG as essentially the bowels of the internet where elitism and immaturity and bandwagoning know no bounds.

Of course there are people here ready for a good fight, but that's usually reserved for exceptionally dumb threads and posts. Basic courtesy, rationality, and an open mind goes a long way here. From what I observed over the years, BG doesn't care much for preachers - especially when they're preaching especially dumb points. A lot of posters on the official forums don't understand the open exchange of ideas or the give and take of rational discussion, so when they're challenged, they fight to save face in spectacular fashion.

That why they'd never survive here, and deep down they know it. I like to think that BG-hatred is merely a defense mechanism for the feeble-minded player. /shrug

I kind of miss arguing with them. It's too bad that SE yoinked my posting privledges about two weeks after I deactivated my account for the summer. Oh well, I didn't deactivate just to spend all day inside anyways. heh
