Yeah ok, BLU can get certain job traits by way of spell sets. Some DA and an attack bonus isn't what makes BLU 'viable' as a melee, it's the gear selection it gets to go along with it's A- ranked Sword skill and good WSs.

Not to nitpick, but even COR is ahead of RDM in terms of non-magical damage. It's not like COR fires off Fast Blades whenever they get TP. They fire off Slug shots, Detonators, or Wildfires. Which, while technically a ranged WS, are not precluded by being within melee range and using a sword or dagger for TP.

If Corsair did not have Slug Shot, Detonator, or Wildfire, they would be in the same position RDM is in now, and would probably only dick around with Evisceration in the exact same way that RDM and BRD do. Saying that Rdm and Cor have equivalent melee capabilities and then pointing out that Corsair is expected to DD is a bit misleading.

It's just not a good comparsion. Sorry man. RDM doesn't get access to native WS worth half a shit (except Evis in Abyssea), has no traits to back it up, and has mediocre skill rank at best.

You might as well throw in PLD, THF, and DNC into the comparison if you're going to ignore job traits, skill levels, job abilities, and typical WS selection.
