Because you know, you wouldn't still want to stack melee gear on top of the bonuses from Gain-Dex and Gain-Str to make yourself the best RDM Melee possible.

Hyrist specifically considers Gain-STR and Gain-DEX to be 'solutions' to RDM's gear-juggling problems. In Hyrist Land, this translates into carrying fewer pieces of melee gear. I'd have to search for the posts, but he's freely admitted that he only uses a combination of AF1/AF2/AF3 for most, if not all, of his RDM casting. He wants SE to design mage/melee hybrid gear specifically for RDM so that he, and the other Allatard melee RDMs, don't have to manage their inventories.

I haven't checked up on the melee RDMs in awhile, but that 'melee RDMs did 80% of a top-tier SAM's damage at Level 75' talking point is a new one to me. It's been recently repeated, and accepted as fact, in all the melee threads. No one seems to question it or think, for even a fleeting second, that it might sound a little absurd.

If I WS Khimmy 4 or 5 times on SAM, I don't think a RDM could catch up unless he was tanking. On that same note, if I was tanking Khimmy on SAM, there's no RDM in the world who could have caught up...and it's not like I was Amano'ing it or anything.

There's no way a perfectly geared RDM/NIN would have come within 20% of a competent and meritted AH-SAM at 75. The players he plays with and compares himself to are probably trash. Honestly, that's a pretty common problem on the forum.

Good players are rare and tend to make a point of avoiding bad players. Most of the tards on the forum that toss out stupid statements probably believe them, because they've never actually seen a good player play their job. As much as we try to be an open community, I sure don't personally seek out bad players to educate. I also flee when there are too many of them in one place.

I can only imagine it being remotely true on trash mobs, "yay my Evisceration abusing rdm parsed 80% of a Hagun samurai on Colibri!" or something equally dumb, where the "top tier" samurai in question was really anything but.

We do? I honestly thought the average BG-goer would avoid interaction with most other players outside their circle of friends/LS mates for obvious reasons: most players are bad, and so they are avoided. Maybe I'm just less willing to step out of my "comfort zone" than most, but I really thought most people here were/are very elitist and exclusive (not inherently bad things, just using them as descriptions).

BG is an open community, outside of BG I don't think many of us give two shits about the rest of the playerbase. The official forums are a place to troll, xp parties are a place to troll, and shit players fighting or intending to fight stuff you need are to be followed so you get that deliciously free chicken when it goes white.

As long as people follow the rules of BG (post in the Random Question Thread/What's Better thread) and aren't belligerent when told they're wrong and given evidence, I think we're fairly good about helping anyone get better. But yeah, I don't stray much beyond my group of friends in game. It's not worth dealing with noobs. If someone asks me questions in game, I'll answer them. If someone genuinely wants to get better and isn't afraid to sit down and look at why what I'm saying makes sense, maybe they'll become a new person in my circle of friends. Generally though, I just answer questions and leave it at that.

I do pickup parties/seal groups because i find them fun, what I don't find fun is gimp players pretending they're hot shit, an example was i joined a Hedjedetet party with my friend(i was on whm and he was blm) I got told to go blm/rdm because /sch doesnt have dispel(it does in fact) and the fact that we had 2 stunners annoyed me, then the dude bitched at the JP dnc who was soloing the hedjetete when we got there so i just left because i cant stand that sort of thing and i got told to "get my panties out of a twist"

I never said it did. But if you're going to try and pretend that the average person who reads this site acts in the same way as those on Alla, AH.com, officla forums etc. in how they interact with PUGs and such, then well, I'd be very surprised if that were true. Most members of the forum hold up elitism as a good thing, in stark contrast to the posters on other sites, and I'd expect that most readers feel the same way too. After all, most people like to read something they agree with.

Yeah, I'd agree with this and the rest of your post, I guess I just took "open community" to mean something a bit different to what you intended.

Would you believe me, Hyrist, or anyone else if they had compared a fully decked out seasoned SAM to a well equipped seasoned RDM that still output 80% of the SAM's damage comparitively, even IF they put out screenshots, pharser results, and anything else they could think of?
