I merely made an observation from what I did today and posted it here in the hopes of finally pinning down a possible pattern to getting procs in Dynamis. There's no reason to be so combative towards me. And I believe you misunderstood my theory. I didn't say "one thing". The theory is that possible procs are dependent on the day of the Vana'diel week. Iceday = Fire and Wind based spells/weaponskills for example.
I have seen this cycle on EVERY forum i read. its awesome that on page 40 somthing people are too lazy to read previous posts. There is not pattern! the only theory i see is that it MIGHT (loosly using that) be a % chance with the proc. like Kindred Red Mage that you cast magic on has x% chance of procing. you roll a hidden roll that determines if you proc. I havent seen it proc more when they 2hr or anything. its random most likely tho. stand and cast para/slow/blind/flash on them when they are asleep and i bet you get it.
Here's what I heard from a friend about glacier arch boss:
Doesn't have dragons or warp, but will summon boss statues to seismostomp throughout the battle, and uses manafont 3-4 times. When it does manafont it will spam high tier -gas and enfeeb-gas. Apparently not too hard with whms curaga spamming, status effects are annoying to aoe remove so often. The statue summons have really low defense, apparently.
Also it drops Avesta Bangles as was expected.
LEARN WHAT THE FUCK NEGATIVE TESTING IS.
There is one theory that works 100% of the time and is awesome. It is simple too, so I have faith you can understand it.
EVERY SPELL/WEAPON SKILL/JOB ABILITY has a % chance to proc.
People need to stop 'seeing' pretend patterns everywhere, or at least keep their crazy to Jesus in the Grilled Cheese.
after my own "tests" i gave up as im pretty almost cerain its a "chance to proc" as long you know which mob belonged to which category. If you just stick to 1 WS(pick ur weakest) and 1 magic(dia) and 1 ja(step or voke) it will eventually proc.
You dont have to do anything fanciful like ninjitsu elemental wheel, tier 1 to 5 bullshits. Sure enough you will eventually proc for magic and ja if you have the patience spamming that ONE and ONLY ONE. WS however is luck as mob dies as you gain TP and attack it :X
So, speculation with low sample size but maybe someone else can back me up/ disprove. Went in a couple times as RDM main, spammed dia to proc mages, worked pretty easily.
My friend, on BLU/RDM today couldn't proc for shit with dia. I'm wondering if the level of skill has an effect on proc rates? I hear people spamming the wheel to proc, does it work well /nin or is this all nin/dnc or whatever.
people do the wheel is just because of the /recast. If any ninjitsu is only 3 sec recast like dia, no one will do the wheel im sure and just spam that 1 macro.
so you cant really ask if "the wheel" works or does it proc at higher rate haha. it is the same as spamming dia.
a while ago i did the test of "NM only proc on ja/ws/magic the alliance have" theory. so i always disband and pull RDM NM and do all ninjitsu magic. There was once i had to spam about 6 cycles, which is about 40ish ninjitsu and it eventually proced. And no i didnt buy ichis
and also i have my THF mule sometimes and hes always sj blm for easy warp and he does proc before with stun, so i think skill doesnt matter. Its just luck whether that mob wanna let you proc early.
Treat it as a lottery pop NM. sometimes you get ur NM in first window and sometimes u camp fucking 10 hours
This is one of the only theories about magic that I put stock in. I suppose it would also carry over to weapons. I know my friend who sometimes helps me on DRK gets a lot of procs doing absorb spells, my nin friend gets a lot doing ninjitsu. I can get pros on MNK faster using h2h than I can using my merc pole and spamming ws with it.
You misunderstand my question. I'm saying, for those people who use ninjutsu to proc, do they do so as nin main or nin sub? If they've tried both, how do their success rates compare main vs sub.
Because my (admittedly very limited) testing seems to suggest that Dia works better from a RDM than it does a /RDM.
The diff between mnk h2h and staff skill is only ~30-40 skill... if there was some kind of skill mod I doubt you'd notice with such a relatively small gap compared to a sub-level skill such as the blu/dia example where there's a 150+ difference. Really we need more data before drawing any kind of conclusions.
I think that I got one magic stagger as /nin the other night in beauc, and I would do 2-4 :ni's per casting mob. I haven't gone as nin main, though, so nothing to compare to, really. Plural of anecdote, etc.
