So my group just had a weird night with the Original 15 NMs in Xarcabard.

Prior to this run, it is in my general experience that AFs have a pretty high chance of dropping with the respective job of the NMs. For example Duelist's Chapeau have a pretty good chance to drop from Duke Berith. Today my group must've killed like.. 8 or more NMs, and not a single one dropped any AFs, and we staggered all 8 of them. Same with 100s. They just dropped coins, Schultz's Strategem, and Shrouded Bijou (until everyone got the pop then no more Bijou dropped). Never really had a run with such an odd luck. I thought I would share this.

I know Relic AFs isn't a huge deal, and we were focusing on NMs just to get the 100s, but damn it was just odd.

That seems like my normal luck. I think I've got ~2 in 15+ runs or so with TH and I camp two NMs and kill them everytime they're up plus the misc. NMs up when I first go in.

Needing to farm 1 byne bills soon, is NIN/DNC and THF/DNC able to get all 5 TE without sac-ing or extra man power?

For low-manning Bastok, i've always experienced issues getting the last two TEs because of all the true sight statues in such a tightly packed area. One wrong move and you could have a huge train on you. The AH and ramp (F-8*) are super easy to kill. You'll have to deal with 2 adds at the ramp though and one is a BLM so maybe have one person kill statue and one on BLM. H-6 just be careful as the repops are super fast. The two I'm taking about are the 10 and 15 minutes are J-7 and K-7.

Using this map for reference: http://ffxi.gamerescape.com/wiki/Fil...mis_Bastok.jpg

If anyone has better strategies I'm definitely interested as I continue to hunt for AF in there.

The statues are not true sight…just regular sight. I run past them on a daily basis.

Not sure if you care too much about a Bst’s perspective but one can somewhat easily solo all the TEs. Just need a couple extra cheap jugs (I use sheep or LQ courels). Only down side is it can eat about 15-20 minutes of your time…which is much better than overall failing a run.

    -AH - easy.

-Ramp – Pull in tunnel. ‘Leave’ once the statue is in the tunnel (depoping links if you don’t get a clean pull

The TE on the upper section (behind AH), just keep spamming ‘fight’ on the statue. It will keep trying to hit quavs but as long as you don’t directly order it to attack one, they will depop when your pet disappears. Once dead, leave your pet and wait on CB to get the other. Reward if needed but i rarely need to.

The TE by the Mnk NM, pretty much the same as above. I haven’t had the guts to try and fight him right were he pops but it could be possible (saving you a jug and a few minutes).

The far East one on the lower level (toughest imo). Put pet on it and run around the corner (south). Hit Heel and once the quavs leave the statue area, leave/CB and fight him right in the middle of that spot. An Icarus wing or built up TP/steps can help drop the statue fast before the quavs pop up again. Kill it, snk/invs ASAP then GTF outta dodge. Fight/leave/heel are all JAs that remove invisible but not sneak so don’t be afraid to use those in quav areas, just avoid doing it around statues.

Sometimes I go with a Thf and all he really does when he comes is sack pull the far East TE. Then I kill it and the other 4 while he’s waits on unweakend. Our best time where we started farming currency was 1h 51m…was a great run.

I've found it depends pretty heavily on the Animated weapon that being fought. I was able to duo the Animated Axe with a BST with DipperYuly and a NIN. Though that's mostly because the axe did not have the offensive spells like the others I have fought. The only constant thing I've noticed is that most of the weapons like to spam Sleepga pretty constantly so everyone in range needs poison items of some kind. Other then that it depends on the weapon, for the ones that spam -ga IIIs a stunner would be helpful, though I do not have much data on which stuns work on it.

Just starting dynamis since the change... I'm aiming to make relic weapon, and looking for some tips on farming currency~
i trio box, and friend suggested i do Nin THF whm setup for farming.
so the aim is to kill 5 te and then proc !!...
what mobs would be the best target for it? -- i tried magic proc, spammed dia for a bit, then tried banish spells, few holy and tier 1/2 ele magic that i got from sub, no procs -.-
what strength of mobs should i kill? -- i noticed there are EP and VT, tried killing both, seemed they drop same number of coins, got few triggers from VT ones thou
how do i get 100 coins? all luck or do i need to kill NMs for them? should i strive to have highest TH number on at all times? -- after abyssea not sure if TH even works lol

I find Magic to be about a 5% proc rate per spell. JAs are about a 20% proc rate eyeballed. WSs parsed out at 15% per use for me, but N=100.

best Trio-box setup would be DNC or NIN/DNC, THF/WAR or THF/NIN, and WHM/BLM
NIN/DNC or DNC would be good for tanking and procing JA and WS mobs
THF/WAR would be good for voke-procing JA mobs
THF/NIN would be good for dual-tanking
WHM/BLM for RR III, II, I, sleepga, sleep and sleep II, also flash procs on slept mobs and dia/bio are quick for the mob that the other 2 are working on
I say any mob is good, JA you just dont want to WS before proc, and use the DNC or /DNC offensive JAs a lot. WS mobs are hardest since sometimes the WSs kill the mob before procs. MA mobs are simple, sleepga, para, slow, blind, flash, aspir, repeat until proc'd. BUT stay away from SMNs with that method due to its 2HR. This method is preferable on RDM, WHM, and BLM due to their respective 2HRs. proper crowd control and you can try procing MA mobs while the other 2 are JA or WS mobs.
EP and VT can only drop up to 4 currency each. EP are prefered for small parties due to not as bad with links, easy to kill, proc rates are the same for any /check, and if you get annoyed taht it wont proc, get some TH on it and kill it and try another mob.
100s are purely luck. I have gotten 1-2 each Jeuno run, but the TEs are difficult in city zones without a BLM or BST. I personally SAC pull the harder ones with my BRD alt character while the 3 DDs in my group kill the statues. TH does work, you will notice more currency drop with a full TH THF than without one.
Xarc is easy for all TEs >> Farm, but the currency/proc rates seem a lot more random. I do Windi a lot (1100/6100 T. Whiteshells for relic weapon) and i leave with about 100 singles each run with 4 people (5 due to me dual-boxing). Beauc takes a long while (even if you split the group to get TEs) to get the TEs. Basti, Windi, and Sandi take some skill and luck with timing of mobs and TE's that move to kill without adds or death. Jeuno is just horrible without a good BLM or BST due to all the mobs in such a small zone.

Windy's TEs are kind of a bitch, honestly.

SE designed each zone so that 2 of the 5 TEs are surrounded by T/VT monsters, with one of them being dramatically messier to kill than the other. This is designed to discourage solo players, and explains why there is a 3-tier proc system. Solo players were intended to get 3/5 TEs. Duo players were intended to get 4/5 TEs. 5/5 TEs was for a full party.

In Windy, TE-5 is the worst. There are something like 5 T/VT Yagudo guarding it, all un-fun jobs. You aren't supposed to be able to get it without Sleepga, basically, and even if you use Sleepga you're pretty much doomed to wipe somewhere overwhelmed by repops.

TE-4 is the second-worst, guarded by two T/VT summoner yagudo the last time I went. I've heard that stuff from above the ledge can link down to it, but it didn't happen when I killed it.

TE-3 is easy, guarded by a single EP Yagudo.

    TE-2 is the same

TE-1 is probably the hardest of the "easy" ones, but there's still only one or two EP Yagudo you really have to worry about.

TE-5 sucks horribly, I agree. I think I've managed to solo it once, and that was when all four or five Yagudo miraculously turned away at the same time.

4 isn't too bad, since only two mobs have to turn around, and I've never seen the links from above.

    3 and 2 I agree with.

I dislike 1. Killing links isn't difficult, but if you aren't careful, you can link a good portion of the surrounding area pretty easily, which makes life a pain.

All can be solo by THF and BSt and probably SMN and PUP?

TE4 - Wait till both smn will face off and SA 300%TP Charged Rudra or Shark Bite and finish then put tonko fast.
TE5 - Aggro them all with flee on and run away at bridge use hide to lose aggro and depop them all and get TE.

pet jobs just pull, let mob die and kill ? XD

The question is about how difficult it'd be for MNK + WHM

And why the fuck do you have bst, smn, or pup in dynamis?

Do people have some good strats for some of the new SMN NMs? In low man groups they've always been an annoying problem. Even with fast sleeps, the avatars typically wake up and immediately AF over and over.

Why not? PUP should be able to DAD to handle links with little to no risk using Stormwaker. Once they're done taking out TEs, switch to Soulsoother for healing. If any job can handle taking out all TEs solo, my money would be on PUP. As far as I know, Deploy can still be used while invisible.

    Hope you joking XD

Best dynamis duo is one WHM+THF/dnc or WHM+nin/dnc or BST/dnc+thf/dnc or rdm/blm+dnc/nin etc. depends if you focus on 100 or singles.
MNK is crap. To much portion of damage goes from melee so you kill to fast with to low amount of WS for stagger. Has no native magic and 3 min native JA so need to choose between /dnc or /nin.

BST/dnc has a TH pet, JAs and is very self efficient.
NIN/dnc can spam both magic and ja and has good evasion.
DNC/nin can spam magic, ja and WS (w/o dmaaging the mob even) and has good evasion.
THF/dnc has TH and hide which is great tool for invi mobs.

I guess I'm just missing the part where any of that is relevant seeing as the question was mnk + whm.
