Just for clarity, not all of the Voidwatch TP moves are physical damage, but Fool's Drink never blocks TP moves, and Fanatic's Drink blocks both magical and physical TP moves aside from a very small number of exclusions (offhand I know Gravitic Horn is not blocked, I'm sure there are a couple of others).

Fanatic's Drink blocks both physical and magical TP moves, but not breaths. I don't know if there are non-breath exceptions (Gravitic horn might be one, I don't know if it's breath damage or not.)

It might have something to do with the fact that Gravitic Horn deals percentage based damage, or it might be a breath move, not really sure. And yeah about breath moves, Heat Breath from Qilin, Fiery Breath from Ildebrann, etc.

Doing VW in pickups is probably why you value Pld so highly.

And every single one I've found in pickups were either mostly useless, couldn't hold hate, or primadonnas who warped mid fight - this is regardless of them having ochain/aegis as well.

For me PLD is good coTank. For things like Kaggen when it reset hate with posture and you for example happen to have amnesia it's good to have PLD to hold it till you build hate again. I tanked all t3 beside Uptala and Aello and it was always the best when I had PLD coTank.

That being said PLD main tank is imo not optimal and I prefer to tank on MNK.
Dont want to sound like elite but in 20+ Pugs I did I haven't met tank that can think yet.

Like lets say Pil and his eyes. You can easily face him and turn and you will make a round of hits (if doom will proc it will wear off in 1 sec wen you are turned) then turn again and fight like that. Can also throw WS like that but I have never seen anyone doing that beside me. All ppl just stand there face away and wait till it's eyes stop blinking.

Btw my point of view can be kinda skewed because on my MNK I have 2200 HP and I usually have Mantra up for most part every second fight ( and with mantra I have 2800 HP ). I just use 43%PDT 15%haste set when Fanatic is down because ppl in PUG being noob and cant stagger for 5min. So Im not sure how it is for noGalka races, especially Taru.

Now I have a question. Can WAR tank VW as good as MNK assuming not perfect condition like fanatic zerg but rather bad PUG and surviving for 3-4min w/o stagger? Im about to throw 1500 plates on Ukon (but I havent finished Ukon yet so I have no experience wit it) and Im wondering if maybe I should throw them on Veret instead because I can be disappointed by not being able to main tank things on WAR?

The only time I had major trouble with being 1shotted on mnk as a hume was on uptala. Decides to tp right as I ws and am not in PDT gear, etc. Mantra merits sound like a great idea for this though, going to cap those.

Being able to tank well depends on how good your whm is that is curing you.

Still very possible for a few mobs to 1shot you when fanatics drops if you happen to get unlucky though. Uptala and qillin can have some extremely damaging attacks that you pretty much won't survive without full pdt. Have seen deadly hold do up to 5k on warriors before, and uptala hits me for 3k sometimes. Not really an issue though, deaths are minimal and usually only happen due to carelessness of DDs with fanatics/pdt sets.

I tanked Qilin on DRK (apoc, seigan/thirdeye and pdt when thirdeye is down and Cata after getting hit to get some HP back) and MNK for well over 3min w/o staggers/fanatics. Pil/Kaggen on MNK for well over 8min w/o fanatics (even w/o any drink left and stalwart down lol). I would like to add that I usually have good WHM from my LS or good JP WHM from PUG or best WHM I know Ragni (dualboxing our mule lol, I am always on skype with him so I can tell him about all debuffs or when to be ready to cure because I know I will get hit ).

Yeah pretty much 90% of the pick-up group failures I've seen are mainly the fault of terrible healers. That and DDs turning up with no temp items whatsoever.

Pretty much this. As long as your group isn't taking years to proc, there's no reason any DD capable of dealing enough damage to get hate would be unable to tank between Fanatic's on almost everything. Mages have an infinite MP pool, and ideal DD atmacites already come with some HP+ and MDB+, so it's really not that big a deal.

If you're relying on fan/fool's drinks, just about anyone can tank. I've "tanked" mobs for several minutes at a time on RNG with fan/fool's. In terms of a legitimate tanking, though, in cases where you have a smaller group and are less likely to constantly be staggering, a PLD is almost always helpful (and at this point, it should be pretty clear that PLD is defined as having Ochain or Aegis).

Had this happen tonight- no screenshot but I noticed specifically because of this post. Six generic crafting materials, nothing mob-specific. Was Qilin, max lights, red/blue cells, blah blah.

A friend of mine probably did like 20 VW fights total and only 4 pil, he has every pil drop, whm body, ace's mail, and seems to get plate pouches on every kill he does. Fucking love this random drop distribution.

1/3 windurst body (got at at the third pop) worst part i dont even have a mage job so i did drop it at my storage, magic attack bonus+5 sphere
1/2 Bastok body

I was not even looking for bodies was just getting clears, i even got tefnut wand (3.5million) 1/1 and rancer too, all from getting clears only hell even lights was not capped in "some" fights but not sure if i got the bodies from the ones when light was not capped

Are cities bodies drop rate much higher or what? its kinda crazy for people to do Jeuno NMs over 100 and get no drops at what point do you move on? lol, I'm 1/6 with the damage taken-8% body (can't use it, my jobs are nin+blu+thf only)

I only did each Jeuno T3 few times to get clears and moved on why bother, the level99 bodies are better from the leaked info with the whole nyzle+5 and others

Yes maybe i got lucky? dunno but my point wtf @SE how can this be good drop rate system according to their latest interview? when people get stuff they dont want (like me) and some working hard +100 pop with no drops?

I'm 100% sure i have received 6 drops before with nothing but crap in them (logs/stones etc) more than once, people i do with usually cap lights+we have a thf+i trade 6 cells (3rubi 3cobalt)
