Everything should be fixed, plugin-wise. // syntax in macros is a known change, but may or may not be supported in the future. If it's an easy fix, and we find it, we'll release it in the new hook. For now, just assume the new syntax is correct.

Been randomly crashing like a bastard. Sometimes i go all day and other times it's multiple times in a short period with nothing consistent to blame it on as far as i know.

Gonna upgrade the spellcast now that there's a new one and i should be able to tell if it was that in a few days.
EDIT: looks like i already had installed the new spellcast and had never noticed this thread before.

My main reasons are not having enough gear to need to swap everything constantly, and not wanting to spend a lot of time learning XML to write a spellcast script when that time could be spent playing and I spend little enough time playing as it is. Learning XML for something I do one night a week doesn't seem worth it. Also, useless when I end up playing on my PS2 because the computer is tied up in a video conversion job.

You don't need to learn XML to make a spellcast file any more than you need to learn carpentry to put a desk from Ikea together.

open a console, type "about" and make sure you have 3.431 (latest version). Also make sure every plugin you have loaded is the newest version (mainly spellcast and blinkmenot, they seem to cause the most problems).

My girlfriend and I both run the same version, and her laptop will crash quite often, mine will run for days without any issues. I'm going to try and debug it and maybe we'll find some strange bug caused by drivers or something silly. But overall, 3.431 is about as sold as we'll get before the 3.5 branch is released.

If you need to force a crash, multiboxing works GREAT for it. While 3-boxing, I usually have a ffxi instance die about every 6-8 hours under active use, much more frequently if I try and scroll back the chatlog.

For a single instance though, everything seems rock solid.

The scrolling back the chatlog thing definitely causes problems. But other than that, I run multibox pretty much all the time and have no problems.

If we can find a solution for multibox chatlog, we will in 3.5. Invader has been investigating it.

I'm curious, does Windower have any memory leak issues over time? I know I'd tried to fish for answers about my Win7's modified memory getting consumed to hell and back leading to low memory errors after 7 or so days of uptime, but I've yet to really peg the source.

The chatlog thing is probably 80% of my crashes, the other 20% being split between all instances simultaneously locking up when zoning together (teleports, //send @all /item "Instant Warp", etc) or an instance just deciding to close (process just exits out of nowhere, not a lockup). I'm not sure if windower logs crash events anywhere, but that's more or less what i've noticed.

If he manages to, tell him I love him forever. I get pretty paranoid about checking my log most of the time due to this.

Same thing here, but oddly enough it's 90% of the time it's after Tele-Vahzl or Tele-Mea. Two of my clients lock up but killing any of the locked clients releases them all.
