Well, we have always known the ephemeral mobs in scars zones to give heavy azure lights. Those aren't considered NMs either so I wouldn't think that they would be effected by ebons, as I haven't seen any evidence for non-NM mobs to give lights of increasing quantity as ebon lights increase.

The part about the avatar is interesting though, or are those not considered NMs?

I still think ebon lights have a correlation to how many lights you get from NM kills, though. Why else would killing the exact same NM give a different (and increasing) amount of lights when the only thing that has changed is the amount of ebon that you have? Unless maybe you can acquire lights from the same NM in some sort of chain fashion?

That's what I think. As for Ebon, I think it's just TH+, but meh. Might also increase the chance of getting pearl on normal mobs (Not sure if anyone has checked that).

I think it's just a random multiplier, and if you got increasing lights you got lucky. Like I said, I only killed one Pavan for 128 lights, and I'd only killed one nm prior which was Balaur. I'd test using pearl lights and vnms, but it's really annoying to hunt down vnms now that radar is broken. On the Bhumi kills I'd done, I never killed him twice in a row, but I did get different light values from him. I don't think there's sufficient reason to believe there's any sort of chain system.

Well the pearl lights on VNMs seemed pretty clear to me but it could have been the whole chain thing going into effect, if that exists. Getting 5, then 10, then 15 from VNM kills in succession, each time my pearls went up, the ebon obviously went up. I should go back and try this with breaking whatever chain I have by getting a pearl of some other mob and going back to VNMs and see what kind of lights I get then.

As far as the avatar lights go, they could just be heavy on amber natively I guess.

Heroes Zones have boosted lights/cruor buffs/etc based on Dominion or something. I forget what exactly.

Tahronghi is fairly busy, and I just got 16 amber from a bhumi. Either shit's random, or maybe light strength is based on amount of time the mob has been alive? not as clear cut as it seemed before, in any case.

    Killing 4 Pavans in Kont:

    First gave 16 lights.

    Second gave 32 lights.

    Third gave 64 lights.

    4th gave 128 lights.

I wasn't keeping track of ebon during this, so I can't confirm whether the avatars just have a culmulative effect or ebon was multiplying, but that does line up. (each ebon from pavan doubling the amber I got each time).

After farming rings/hairpins for about 7 hours though (with capped amber/azure), we didn't get a single double Powerful item chest. In about 2-300 mega golds, we got a few decent 3 augment dark rings, and a lot of crappy hairpins. Ebon was between 5 and 15 the entire time.

I didn't see in the thread, but did we find a cap to ebon? Could it effect chest item quality? Or perhaps simply light multiplier (since each pavan gave an ebon).

I had 4 ebon when bhumi gave me 16. Also a t1 vnm gave me 15 pearl as the first mob I killed. I don't think ebon has anythiing to do with it.

Sorry for the scattered post, it's late.

I'm pretty certain Ebon really only affects EXP/cruor (caps or up rate) and has nothing to do with potency. Having nearly 70 Ebon had no effect on my ruby chests (which weren't capped.) I've messed around with it a bit and never never witnessed anything to suggest that it affects box potency in any way.

In regards to amber, you will not get (in Kons, at least) double powerful items from tier 5 boxes. Tier 5 amber also opens up key items, which will usurp a large amount of your amber boxes. That's why, if you're going for quantity over quality, it's best not to have capped amber. I think that the best spot is going to be the spot in which you cannot roll a tier 5 box unless your destiny abyssites proc. What I think might be interesting to know is if you can get good dark rings from tier IV boxes. I'd settle for 5/5 dark rings (as opposed to 6/6) if that meant getting them almost three times as frequently.

In terms of potency, I think that it is no longer possible to roll tier IV or below when you have 152 light strength (aside from that very rare random fail chest regardless of light potency, maybe 1/256 chance?) So if your ambition is to get good dark rings while also getting time extensions and such, then this is the most azure you'll ever want. I'm not sure whether the game rolls up or down to determine your result, but I'm leaning towards up. The reason being is that I've been able to get a time extension box with 0 azure in visions zones. I have two of the azure potency abyssites but it's extremely uncommon for me.

Either way, it should be possible to figure out exactly how many lights dominion is adding knowing the 152 minimum for capped potency.

In regards to ephs, maybe it has something to do with the element you kill them with? (since they can pop as a variety of elements.)

Doubt the element has much to do with it. I've killed an Ephemeral with Goblin Rush and got 128 lights, so it's either just random or it's not random. WHO KNOWS?

idk if this is relevant, but we were doing chests in Altep, trying to get TK/Shara hides. Our azure/ruby/pearl was at/near max...amber was low (0-16 low). The load rate on gold chests was pretty dismal, so I ambered 2 Detectors, which were giving 16 amber per kill, which bumped us to 48. All we were getting after that, from gold chests, were large gold chests.

It's commonly known that Dominion zones cap much much earlier than other zones if that's what you're getting at.

Supposedly due to Dominion buffs, which are another thing that don't factor in to our light readings when we /rest.

And the smart people will use my above posted info to help find the cutoff point between small and big gold chests since at this point all dominion light boosters should generally be maxed out.

Having several occurances where the first ephem killed gives 32, 64, or 128 azure, I'm fairly sure there is a random chance of boosted lights based on the number of abyssites of that type you have. Sadly I can't prove it, because I don't have an account with no abyssites of a given type to prove that someone who kills ephems with magic never gets anything but 16's.

Been about a week since anyone has posted in this thread, not sure if it's been discussed elsewhere or what.
Either way, I decided to do a bit of testing for myself, mostly due to the fact I can't find any information anywhere that explains exactly how to get super lights and whatnot.

I don't have a lot of data gathered yet, but took a couple hours messing around with Ephemerals and occasionally Avatars.
Obviously, since this was done in one sitting, I can't tell how accurate everything is.
I may have gotten extremely lucky with "Random shit is random".
I may have been killing at the right/wrong times for lights, be it Bastion having an effect or whatever.

But, anyways, I did a majority of the testing in Abyssea Misareaux.
Started off with an Eph Amoeban around the spot where you pop Cirein-croin.
Using ApRadar to check mob IDs, to make sure I was killing the Eph with the same ID over and over.
I did each light a couple times, but heavily repeated Ruby/Amber.
Every time I gained lights, I received 5 Pearl, 16 Azure, 128 Ruby, or 16 Amber.
Afterwards, I killed the nearby Eph Murex a couple times, only because I remember it giving 128 Azure to me in the past. When I finally Azured it [lolNINsubnuking] it gave the usual 128. At some point I also got 5 Pearl from it, and I'm only going to assume 16 Ruby/Amber would come if I tried.

At this point, I assumed that every Eph Amoeban would give super Ruby, and every Eph Murex would give super Azure. I killed about 3 more Amoebans with different IDs in various locations on the map, and they all gave 128 Ruby. I assume Murexes would also give 128 Azure, but I'll leave that test to when I have someone with me to properly get Azure. >_>

Jala [the Leviathan] was giving me 128 Amber, and when I attempted, 32 Azure, 32 Ruby. Probably gives some shitty amount of Pearl, but didn't try yet.
So in other words, while I was there, I had targets to instantly cap Azure, Ruby, and Amber if I chose to do so.

After that adventure, I moved on to Abyssea Vunkerl.
However...I couldn't get any of the Ephs to spit out super lights.
I also could not manage to find the Ramuh roaming around to test anything.
For the record, all of the Ephs in Misareaux were spawning at Tough/LowEva.
Even though I camped one Eph in Vunkerl for about 20 minutes, killing it extremely fast each spawn, it seemed to spawn at various /checks. I had one point where it spawned as Tough, then Even Match, then Decent Challenge. So, I have no idea what was going on there, or if it's possibly related to the lights gained. [Toughs never gave me any super lights, however it may be due to the wrong light being attempted.]

Conclusion, I'm not sure if Misareaux is just really awesome and Ephs easily give super lights, or if possibly a condition needs to be met to do this. I've never been to Misareaux at a time where the Murexes did not give me 128 Azure, but that doesn't mean it's impossible I suppose. Assuming there is no condition, then Vunkerl must be shit for lights via Ephs.

Sorry for the wall of text, planning on recording all light gain I make from now on with mob IDs and all. I'd love to know if anyone has had any different experiences, such as gaining less than 128 Azure from Ephs in Misareaux, or gaining more than 16 from Ephs in Vunkerl. Would also love to be pointed to any posts that I may have missed about light gains. xP

Blazing Cluster in Abyssea - Misareaux when azured gave my LS 255 Azure lol, I guess certain NMs give enhanced rates of gain over others? anyone discover any odd amounts given from other NMs?

Miser is the only zone people do Bastion, that boosts the lights to "super light" status, don't see it in the other scars zones.

Any idea how bastion effects it?
Is it a certain core that's necessary, or do they just have to be doing well or something?
