Perhaps something else makes even normal mob lights differ? Idk I was fighting about 5 sperm at once and accidentally CDC'd one to death and got nothing so proceded to do it on the rest as I was dieing and couldn't really afford to hold off. And my lights were giving 10 so idk. Well other than the enhanced ones. I guess I could go again. Who knows maybe shit didn't show up in the log and maybe stuff was being weird with lights. Also we weren't killing vnms then.

And as for the tiers of lights from ephemerals/avatars in Visions zones, is it not simply how many other monsters you chain up prior to killing the ephemeral that determines the light strength (which multiple of 16 you get)? Since that's been shown to be what makes them give more EXP/cruor, and there seems to be a correlation with the amount of EXP and amount of light you get from killing them. Granted, there does seem to be an element of randomness/spawn level (?) if you go out to kill them with no or very little pre-built chain beforehand, but they always do seem to give the massive spurts of EXP/cruor after you've built up a chain on another monster beforehand. I'll play around with it when I can log on, but if I'm not mistaken, it looks to be just a simple case of putting two and two together.

Also, Aemora is fantastic for providing these statistics. :3
The chain idea wouldn't make sense for the coast and I have had Bhumi spike me to 128 prior to chaining mobs. I've also witnessed 64 lights from Emph at the coast, but If I recall correctly, that was shortly after an update.

This is a ROUGH idea of the light levels to acquire certain chest sizes. This information was compiled from a LOT of chests in Konschtat over a couple of hours over varying amounts of lights, as well as what other people have eyeballed in this thread.
    More awesome work.

I compiled it into this: Sturdy Pyxis.

You deserve a gold star. ★

Thanks for all the thanking, but just doing what many others in the community have done for this game (adding to the info). But on an LS run last night, I noticed something that I missed out and didn't pop when I tested!

    Code:
Intensity | Silver | Gold | Ebon | Cruor Value

    Faint | 5 | 5 | 1 | 30
    Mild | 10 | 10 | 2 | 40
    Strong | 15 | 15 | 3 | 50
Silver/Gold/Ebon can appear as faint lights too! Values are 5/5/1 respectively. Please dun take my star away from me!

Unless it has changed you don't get light from a mob that dies yellow. And if your ws kills a yellow mob, it won't turn red. Since you were fighting a handful of mobs this sounds like the reason you didn't get light from the mob kill.

OK, a large part of the thanking is because your data was very well formatted so it was very easy to convert into wiki tables. But I am just happy when people put easy-to-find clumps of useful knowledge in one place.

You since you corrected it, so you get to keep your star. In fact, here is another one: ★

    Some interesting things to report.

Just got 64 azure lights twice in miseraux. Granted it was my alt doing it and was at like 1am pst which I normally don't do but idk if that effected it.

Also I went in mis and altepa over the last few days and well lights were weird. I'd get expect more or less the right amounts but the chest spawns for those strengths were off. Like I was consistently getting highest tier chest from the start. Even my alt that hasn't collected the various abyssites that might help. I haven't gotten a single blue or red chest that wasn't in the top 2 tiers in the last couple of days.

Do you remember what you were fighting when you got the 64 Azure and the Bastion augments that were in effect? There is a chance that your server is owning the hell out of Bastion and that caused the lights to spike. (I know that strong Dominion will cause you to get top-tier boxes right away.)

Well if you're in Altepa, as I said earlier, chests will pop higher tier from the go because of the people doing Dominion Ops in EXP parties. This can be easily validated if you check with the Dominion NPC at the first camp.

Furthermore, the effects that the Abyssites have on your character, 'improves your luck with sturdy pyxis', hasn't been tested (at least not to my knowledge). I think I've read somewhere that it may boost the chests once in a while, but I digress... I cannot test what effect these have on my tests, whether or not it directly alters the light you recieve, or whether or not server activity has an effect on lights (which I believe is true, as we have seen this with the scattershot spawning of mob familes and NMs varying server to server after Abyssea expansions were released, and could be tested at least in Scars zones with Tejas and Fulmotondro and Ephemerals, similar to Jala in Misereaux), or it could just mean that you'll see more chests of that corresponding Abyssite colour. All my data was collected with a character with all Abyssites, and I said it was a rough value. I have also seen top tier chests without any significant build of lights, but due to the sparcity of them, I discount them as flukes (which do occur, for whatever reason, must be some randomiser that determines chest frequency and strength based on your acrued number of lights, but again, guess work).

But yeah, lights work differently in Altepa, Grauberg and Ulegeurand.

Empheral murex. And this would be the first time I've seen it not give 128. And no don't remember the bastion

Oh I understand being a tier or 2 higher but this was like 95% top tier with like 5% the tier below and nothing under that. While pts I was in just a week ago required at least a little light building. And like I said same thing was happening in mis too

    Oi!!! Hands off!!

And I don't know what to say other than those are the light values a character with full Abyssites on Sylph server could get a week ago. I more than welcome anyone to repeat my tests on a different server to validate my findings, but apart from the odd Ephemeral, no one has said a word about regular families so I assume them to be true. Tests were done like this:
    • - Sit down, note the lights in /p in order of Azure - Ruby - Amber (so it would look like this: 24 - 16 - 40)
      - Amber, then Azure, then Ruby 3 monsters. This order was chosen so that if Amber failed to kill, I could still Azure, and try Amber again. That failing again, I'd pearl them. Ruby was CdC.
      - After all 3 killshots were done, sit and look at lights, compare them to /p chat (easier to spot than finding the right moment you started killing a new family in the logs)
      - If either something did NOT give lights, or gave enhanced lights, test again to make sure.
      - Repeat zone wide.
      - Ephemerals and Avatars were tested both during the above testing, and afterwards on their own without prior light build up.

If anyone just wants to do random testing of my results (actually heading out, with purpose, to specifically test my data, with screenshots to disprove me) please do, it will only enhance our knowledge and add to a serverwide theory of light build ups, which I am all for. But I'm a little skeptical about 95% difference without a /sit verification.

Some things that I think are more glitches than intended:
I went out today to Abyssea - Konschtat to blow away some lizards for my TP Bonus dagger trial and got a TE and Big Gold within my first dozen kills. 0 Amber, 0 Azure even when I left, and I never saw high level chests again. There was a group with what looked like capped lights killing Lizards when I arrived, so I assume I borrowed their lights for those kills somehow.

I've also received lights for other people's kills in the past. I diaga'ed turtles in Tahrongi for some reason and was outrunning them when someone building light pulled one and ambered it, but I got credit. I don't know if he also got credit.

Speculation: Maybe Ebon affects such things as proc rate of light related abyssites?

Screw figuring out what Ebon does, it's like Ebon panels all over again.

I was under the impression that the Abyssites that "Enhance" chests/lights aren't a full-time boost, but rather can simply proc occasionally to yield a higher level chest than your lights would normally allow (seemingly a random value, perhaps modified by how many of said Abyssites you have)
