OoT's world is black and white. There's young link's world and adult link's world and that's it. Anyone that isn't involved with the main storyline is unlikely to acknowledge anything you've done, and everything is exceptionally static save a few NPCs that do little more than run around in circles.

MM has 2-4 states (First day/Second day/Final day/Final six hours, or area dungeon complete/incomplete, depending on where you are) for nearly every non-dungeon area and NPCs that actually acknowledge those changes in their environment. Not to mention the most intricate sidequests in any zelda game by far.

MM has some of the smoothest execution of time-based events I've ever seen in a video game, and the fact that people still refer to it as a "time limit" is laughable. Personally I liked OoT's dungeons more but there just isn't much to the game outside of that. MM's outside world just benefits so much from the 3-day system. Little things like the skulltulla guy rewarding you for clearing the beach spider house on day 1 and already being cursed if you come later wouldn't be possible under a different system, and those sorts of touches are absolutely everywhere in MM.

1. I said nothing about depth. What you are referring to is depth. When I said fine tuned, I meant a world with a proper and understandable back story. I meant environments that meshed properly and transitioned well with each other (in comparison to MM). MM has a world that felt like it was pooped out in sections.
2. Pointing out that my 'time limit' limit statement is laughable is quite beside the point. I enjoyed not having to worry about oh, I ought to reverse time to day one since I want to go chill in gerudo desert and snipe birds.
3. Characters in OoT that had to do with the storyline were actually evolved much better than MM. Which is not saying much since not many characters in MM were actually tied into the main storyline.
4. OoT explored the emotional themes of friendship better than MM did. Despite the fact that MM itself was based on some kid wanting friends.
5. The sheer number of easter eggs, level of fun with sidequests and minigames on OoT was not replicated in MM, despite having some pretty awesome things.
6. Intricate/complex and fine tuned are not the same thing. MM had too many jarring portions in comparison to OoT.

Both are great games, MM is not really better than OoT.

Gonna agree on the whole pooped out in sections thing, probably my biggest complaint about MM. Individually the areas are all pretty great but they don't mesh well at all. It's definitely lacking in the back story too, but that's something I rarely care about and (especially when it comes to zelda) can easily disregard. I do prefer MM over OoT but I'm not trying to claim it's an objectively better game or anything, clearly we look for different qualities in a game so whatever.

I'm not going to comment on characters or themes or whatever else is going on in that post because I'm not looking for an argument here, the mention of time limits in relation to MM just brings out the sperglord in me.

The 2 black chicks from the Amazing Race would simply take penalties or take ungodly amounts of time whenever there was a water challenge in front of them. Bitch lost a few seasons back because she wouldnt go down a water slide at an amusement park in Finland I believe.
