Any other week I would have, but I just bought my dad a laptop, ordered a years supply of contacts, bought new glasses, and bought a new pair of sennheiser HD650's, all within the last 1-3 weeks.

Thats like 1000-1200$ lol, although I'm supposedly getting some of the money back (600?) so maybe.

Ugh, I know how you feel. Just built a new system in October and this round of Christmas presents really massacred my wallet. Well, get some money and then pull the trigger! They sound pretty cool.

So, I felt the need to bump this thread since I finally got my new PBT keycaps for my main board, a Filco 104 with Red switches... also I wanted to show it off.

Before (note: keyboard is dirty due to waiting a month for new keys and not cleaning it cause I thought theyd be in within a week).

selectively believing that is false based on the fact you paid like a hundred bucks for keycaps

What? and no these are PBT's not dyesub'd so they didn't run nearly that much.

Think the dyesub keycaps were around 80-85$ plus 10-20$ depending on shipping method. For some reason imsto's groupbuys on keycaps seem really expensive. A lot of people didn't pull the trigger on that one, as other dyesub buys are less cost.

edit: groupbuys are amazing, and save you a lot of money. Those o-rings were also from a groupbuy and were really cheap.

I meant to emphasize "nearly" since they were even less than half the price with shipping. Gotta love Asia.

Finally got around to using my Razer promo code to get a Black Widow. I toyed around with one when I was at PAX earlier and liked it. I like the feeling of the keys and the layout of it. It's not overly bloated with macro keys like a lot of other models. I prefer wireless goodies but I can live with this.

I actually have one of the cherry-blue TE keyboards, the 104 key model variant. Pre-ordered it forever ago, came in around the middle of December. I love it, even if the keys take some getting used to due to placement.

Bumping an old thread to save making a new one - Are there any new contenders/models/brands in the mechanical keyboard race?

I'm looking at something mostly for gaming, and from what I read it makes a difference what kind of gaming, so it's MMO's and MOBA's pretty exclusively. I play most types occasionally, but not enough to dedicate a keyboard for.

From what I can find, the contenders are:

    Das Keyboard pro
    Filco majestrix
    Razer blackwidow
    Steelseries 6Gv2
    Corsair V90

I'm leaning towards the razer at the moment but I really need more input before I decide for sure.

Razer has QA issues witha lot of their products, I would go Corsair K90 if looking for a gaming mechanic, or Das/Filco if looking for a high quality board.

WASD Keyboards is also worth looking at, plus you have a lot of options with regard to keycaps instead of modding later.
