Employing the grad school mantra of "good enough":

My thesis advisor throws a fit every time I get anything other than an A. The main reason my B+ bothered me so much is because I knew how my advisor was going to react when he found out. Maybe it's different for me because I'm only in a masters program.

The University of Victoria uses a 9 point scale, similar to some other Canadian universities. 90% and above is generally an A+, while 85-90 and 80-84 complete the rest of the A-class grades. The weird thing is that the percentage cutoffs for assigning letter grades is up to the department, and often at the discretion of the prof. The Econ department, and most of the Social Sciences departments at UVic use the same scheme as below, but when I was doing my History degree, an A+ was usually >95%, and B+ went up to 85 (ie shift scale up 5 percentage points)
UVic 9 Point Scale 9 A+ 8 A 7 A- 6 B+ 5 B 4 B- 3 C+ 2 C 1 D 0 F
Postsecondary % Scale 90 85 80 75 70 67.5 65 60 50 0
4.00 Scale I (C+ = 2.3) NA 4 3.7 3.3 3 2.7 2.3 2 1 0
Summer courses for me too. Couldn't land a Co-op job for the summer, but it's a blessing in disguise. To complete my second degree by end of winter semester 2012 so I can get to grad school by Fall 2012, I would have been taking 6/7 courses at a time had I worked during the summer. So for the next few months it's Competition Economics, Public Economics and Finance, Money and Banking, and Applied Econometrics.
I just got an 11% raise at work, so I guess A+!!
Edit: damn forgot I went back to school too...4.0 in the class I took.
I have Terrorism and Juvenile Justice online, and Principles of Economics during the last summer term. I never took an online class before, so I don't know what to expect in the difficulty or notes or anything.
He can spell everything in $ now. Awwww yeah
