    The Transporter TV

    http://geektyrant.com/storage/post-i...rterTVcast.jpg

Chris Vance has been cast in the lead role for the upcoming TV adaptation of The Transporter which is based on the action films starring Jason Statham. Vance will take over Statham's role as the badass driver and “professional transporter” Frank Martin. Vance is a British actor that has been involved with shows such as Prison Break and Burn Notice. Andrea Osvart has also been cast as the lead female character, "Frank's handler Carla, an extremely crafty former CIA operative who organizes his missions, acts as his eyes and ears on the outside, and continually stokes the flames of their unrequited attraction."

The Luc Besson produced series will premiere on Cinemax next year with 12 episodes. This series will center on professional transporter Frank Martin. Operating in a seedy underworld of dangerous criminals and desperate players, Martin can always be counted on to get the job done — discreetly. He has three rules: Never change the deal, no names and never open the package.

The first season of the show will be shot this summer in Canada and Europe. Vance had this to say in a statement,

It’s high octane. Fast-paced. Action-packed. Car chases. Stunts. Fights, Beautiful girls. Villains. Heroes. Guns. It should be a lot of fun.
I think he'll make a great fit for the show, he goes on to talk about the training he is going through and reveals that the same stunt team that worked on the movies are also working on the TV series.

I’m on a fitness program at the moment. It’s more stamina work than anything, because we will be shooting for five months and that’s a long time to sustain all the physical activities that we’ve got on the show. The stunt guys that worked on the movies are coordinating all the stunts and the action sequences and everything for the series. They’re all very experienced. I’ll be working with them and whatever I can do, I’ll do.

I'll be surprised if this survives past one season. The first movie was good, but the 2nd was meh, 3rd I never seen but heard it was bad.

I always say, the way a man treats his car is how he treats himself.

It will more than likely bomb.

Dunno, I think it can be a good story line. Mainly just the premise of him transporting things all the time would involve car chases, gun fights, loose women. It's cable so hopefully there will be more shit they can pull, and it won't get cancelled super fast like network shows ;x What other shows does Skinemax have tho? >.>a

Wasn't a fan of the movies tho tbh. I know they sucked, first one was semi-entertaining cause hsu chi!

I don't see how they can make a TV series about him transporting something, deciding its wrong, then taking out the people responsible. It might be interesting but I wouldn't expect it to last either.

Cinemax has announced that they have started production on the new Transporter television series. This new show is an adaptation of the action-packed Luc Besson and Jason Statham films. Besson is an executive producer on the series, but Statham will not be reprising his role. The role of the Transporter has been filled by Chris Vance (Burn Notice), who I think will end up doing a fine job in the series. I've enjoyed watching the Transporter films, and even though Statham isn't involved with the series I'm still excited about it and willing to give it a shot. It could end up being pretty awesome! The 12-part action series is set to debut on Cinemax in 2012.

    Here's the synopsis:

Based on the successful film franchise of the same name created by Europacorp's Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, this fast-paced series follows the adventures of professional transporter Frank Martin, who can always be counted on to get the job done - discreetly. Operating in a seedy underworld of dangerous criminals and desperate players, his three rules are: Never change the deal, no names, and never open the package. Occasionally, complications arise and rules get broken.

    From the press release:

The series' executive producers are Luc Besson, Fred Fuchs, Robert Cooper, Joseph Mallozzi & Paul Mullie and Alexander Ruemelin; produced by Susan Murdoch (QVF Inc.) and Klaus Zimmermann (Atlantique Productions). "Transporter" is a France/Canada international treaty co-production produced by Atlantique Productions and QVF Inc. in association with broadcast partners HBO/Cinemax as well as The Movie Network and Movie Central (Canada), M6 (France) and RTL (Germany).

Andrea Osvart (Duplicity) co-stars as Martin's trusted handler Carla and Francois Berléand reprises his role of Inspector Tarconi from the films. The cast also includes Delphine Chanéac (Splice) in the recurring role of Juliette, a reporter who seems to know a lot about Frank's work, and Rachel Skarsten ("Made... The Movie," "Birds of Prey") as Delia, the daughter of someone from Frank's past.

Stephen Williams, a director and co-executive producer of "Lost," is directing the first episode.

Just watched a few eps. It seems to want to be a mix between James Bond: the TV show (it even has a bond rip-off intro credit sequence), and Leverage/Burn Notice. It's car chases and action on a painfully obvious budget, but it does have new topless girls in every ep.

Overall, a poorly made show but, again, new naked girls every ep.
