Quit reading OP as soon as I saw MH3 releasing for PS3 in Japan. Importing that shit. Regret the PSP purchase but oh well.

Can't believe I missed this thread. This news is exciting. I'm kind of glad I'm behind on the PSP thing because I'll have the option for some of these games of which version to get, but hopefully the games that I wanted to player aren't the only ones they're redoing.

Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD Dated and Priced

HD version of PSP hit arriving on August 25, complete with a limited edition.
The first entry in Sony's line of PlayStation 3 remakes of PSP titles will arrive on August 25. Capcom has revealed this to be the release date for Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD.

The announcement came today through a listing at Capcom's direct sales site, e-Capcom. The listing has the game priced ¥4,320, which it says is 10% off the standard price, so the standard price is apparently ¥4,800.

e-Capcom will be offering a special "Extended Edition" which bundles the game with a special Blu-tooth Monster Hunter themed headset. Pricing for the e-Capcom exclusive set is ¥7,800, with free shipping. The headset will also be sold on its own for ¥6,800.

Typical for e-Capcom, buyers will receive an exclusive bonus item. Details on this will be announced later.

At present, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD is the only known title in the HD remake series, which Sony announced a couple of weeks back as the "PSP Remaster Series." Sony has hinted that the series will include both download and retail sales. MHP's HD version has only been announced as a Blu-ray release at present.

Capcom USA “Pushing Very Hard” For Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD Ver.
Monster Hunter Portable 3rd hasn’t been announced for an overseas release, but the PSP Remasters version, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD Ver., has a better chance of making it over.

Capcom’s Christian Svensson commented on the game in the company’s “Ask Capcom” video Q&A this past week:

“We mentioned the Sony issue around the PSP-to-PS3 line [PSP Remasters] that Sony Japan is doing. I’m still pushing very hard on that…I’d like for that to happen. In the absence of that, at some point in time, we will have some additional news.”

Additionally, for anyone that’s wondering, there are no plans to bring Monster Hunter Frontier Online overseas at the moment. You can watch the full Q&A below:

Official site for PSP remaster series(JP)

    http://www.jp.playstation.com/pspremaster/index.html

    http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/201...er_site_opens/

Sony makes three points about the series at the official site:

Use the save data in the home and on the go
Play with friends (Using Ad-hoc, PS3 players can play locally with PSP players.)
Play with players nationwide (Using Ad-hoc party, you can play with distant players, and also use text chat and voice chat.)

The site also says that PSP Remaster series titles will offer new content, new stages and "special movies."

Commemorating the site's opening, Sony has posted some messages from its engineers and Monster Hunter producer Ryozo Tsujimoto. Tsujimoto revealed that when Sony first told Capcom about the PSP Remaster series, they showed him a demo they'd prepared of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. Capcom immediately decided to go ahead with making Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD. There were some issues remaining at that time, but the fact that the game looked better than they'd been expecting, was the clincher.

It's possible on new content but no word yet.

Capcom has tapped some celebrity Monster Hunter fanatics to promote Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD Version. Featured in the game's first two commercials are Satoru Inoue (MHP 3rd play time 875 hours) and Maki Goto (MHP 3rd play time 136 hours).

For anyone wondering, game is a direct port. There are some extras on the disc that you can access on your PS3 outside of the game itself (on the cross-bar), which are mostly movies from this and past Monster Hunter games. I haven't looked at it much yet but I can give you guys specifics if you want.

You install the game onto your PS3 when you first put it in (MH3rd HD was something like 1.2gb), but from that point on you still need the disc in the drive to boot the game.

Transferring saves back and forth from PSP to PS3 to play is seamless. I've been transferring my save in the morning before I go to work to play on the train/etc, and when I get home, I zap my character back to my PS3 to play in HD. It takes about 5 seconds and you do it all from the cross-bar outside of the game, which is nice.

Only downside is that even the HD PS3 version uses Adhoc Party for its online (to maintain compatibility with PSP users), so you must be on a wired connection to play online (or patch your PS3 through a PC with a wireless connection and a wired port, which is what I do).

Also, if anyone is playing online, hit me up. I started fresh for HD for the fun of it and I haven't done any of the guild quests yet. Would love to plow through them with some decent players.
