Summer 2011 Anime Thread

I think I'm just gonna start picking Anime series at random like I used to. Too many mixed reviews whenever I try to research them ahead of time. Now that I think about it, there have been very few Anime that actually regretted watching.

most of my anime regret comes from forcing myself to go through a series because i find some part of the premise interesting and/or have expectations of something overturning the otherwise mediocre flow.

really, some of my most enjoyable watch has been just a shot in the dark

Index is like a goddamn train wreck; you just can't look away. The world and the characters have SOOOOO much awesome potential. I guess I just keep hoping that someone who knows how to write a good story will take over- or better yet, rewrite the whole goddamn series from scratch.

I wouldn't say Index had potential. The setting is all over the place, and it's hard to find a central line that unite every themes introduced. It actually feels like a bunch of ideas were slapped together by the author just because he thought it would be cool to have thais and that.

If index had 90% less characters and story arcs, maybe it would have been better, but the story is stupid as it is, and so are most characters.

The last chapter of Usagi Drop manga just got translated too, doubt they will get to that point in the anime though.

I'll rage if the anime covers it. I still can't get behind it. besides being incredibly creepy and cheap.

Break Blade Ep 6

I totally wish they stuck closer to the manga material but overall this was an enjoyable ending with a satisfying final battle.

The ending felt really abrupt and rushed, but I wouldn't go that far in condemning it, it's just that it really could use some more development into the whole thing than just a goddamn timeskip with no epilogue

Then again, the story went all over the place retarded after the first timeskip :/

Screw Usagi Drop, I got all teared up towards the end of episode 3. Really great show though, it feels so unique and the characters have actual depth.

This show has had me in tears every episode so far, I just can't help being so emotionally invested in Daikichi and Rin. I love how even the minor characters like Gotou actually feel like real people instead of just being minor character #18 and being near impossible to tell apart from minor character #12. It's only been three episodes and it has already cracked my top 5 all time animes.

Usagi Drop 3 was sweet, Rin is adorable and you can really see their relationship grow stronger.

In other news, Tiger and Bunny 17 was great from a backstory/motivational standpoint. Not much happened in general, but they really make you feel for Tiger the whole way.

Nichijou was decent, anything with Mai being awesome is good to watch.

I'm just enjoying Dantalian no Shouka for the fact that it's Gosick meets Rozen Maiden where the male protagonist actually had a spine.

It had to be the one protagonist who has the good sense to use a goddamn gun to solve his problems and it doesn't even do anything. Instead he's stuck killing things with boring monologue.

Yeah, the fact that it turned into a Classical Literature Audiobook by Daisuke Ono is a bit disappointing, but I'm kinda hoping they start cutting down on the monologue's length

New Natsume episode did not dissapoint, amazes me that after 3 series, they can still keep fresh, original and tear jerking stories going, wish it would never end. Just makes me wish KnT had some way to continue.

I dunno, I kinda like it lol. Needs more visual impact for sure (episode 2 had more of that before the final 2 readings), but the concept is interesting even if it needs to be more flashy. But still, like you guys said, good to see a main character with a spine.
