Summer 2011 Anime Thread

And I finally caught up with watching the first 5 episodes of Usagi Drop.

Good lord this shit is so fucking cute...and I don't even like cute stuff. And the best part is that the cute stuff doesn't feel forced. It's a really simple and realistic story with realistic characters that just....works. Honestly looking at every element of this series, I not only don't see anything wrong, but just everything is done on a superb level. Even some of the character types that I would normally hate in any other series (like the annoying little girl, or Rin's mom) I can't bring myself to write them off. This is definitely one of my favorite series not only this season, but of all time. Hell...I'm even starting to think I want a kid like Rin someday >.>

I'm still loving this series as well. It's a shame it will only be 11 episodes. I also saw something about there being a live-action movie coming out. I suppose when this is all done I'll have to go and read the manga.

That whole temple segment from the moment it started to rain just floored me. Absolutely hilarious

Nichijou 19 was amazing. Shit had me in tears from Mio's fish flop, to the temple to epic Igo Soccer. My gut hurts, so classic.

Tiger and Bunny 19 was great, I do miss the sponsorship aspect but this is good too. Looking forward to seeing how they resolve this. Tiger and Bunny are too good together lol

I want more book reading for some strange reason, but episode 3-4 were excellent regardless. Loving the stories, myths and encounters, shit is so surreal.

yeah, at first i was worried it'd get boring with the same repetition of investigation of a phantom book > conflict > audiobook by Daisuke Ono pattern, but the last 2 episodes have shown how unique the nature of the phantom books can be. The character interactions between Huey and Dalian is pretty amusing to watch too, but like I said before, I think those two talking is enough for me to continue the series.

I'm not sure about Dalian, she is too similar to your typical anime tsundere brat. It's not that bad, but I was expecting a little more from her.

Either way, I still love the show. I don't know how many episodes they can make before the episodic format get old, but I'm fine with it as long they keep it as interesting

Steins;Gate just keeps getting better and better. They're doing a really good job of showing how all the repetition and failures are starting to wear down Okabe, but at the same time it's making him stronger and more determined not to fail. I really ended up liking this a lot more than I thought I would, I only picked it up last season because aside from Tiger & Bunny and Kaiji there wasn't anything that piqued my interests, and I'm glad I gave it a shot.
