Steins;Gate is amazing.
It's "that series" from every year or so that I recommend to all of my anime-watching friends when it's done airing.

Definitely going to check it out when it finishes. How many episodes are left? Feels like it's been going on for 2 seasons now.
I haven't made any comments about Stein;Gates in a while since I was starting to repeat myself, but this show is constantly surprising me. I was worried at first it would turn into some retarded harem with nonsensical plot, there was only 2 males (including the token side-kick) and 5 "gimmicky" females after all, but they actually managed to keep the cast focused on the story without falling into that territory.
I really like how the plot is focusing on its strength, rather than attempting to be something it can't be. They don't waste countless hours trying to explain us why time travel make sense when it can't. It's a mistake that I see way too often in sci-fi story. They want to looks smart, but in the end, no matter how much technobabble they says, it's still stupid. Instead, Stein;gates did the right thing and focused on the emotional side of the characters who are involved in this mess, and it's good.
Animation isn't as great as other show like Tiger&Bunny, or Usagi Drop, but it's not bad either. It's at least consistant, and does a good job at conveying emotions where it's needed. Music on the other hands is freaking awesome. There isn't that many tracks, but they are good.
Despite all the goodies, I'm still dreading the finale. I'm certain that I will still enjoy the show regardless of how bad or good it is, but it's going to be hard to give us something satisfying that feel true to the rest of the show.
Only 5 episode left. You should watch it now before someone spoil the ending!
I already have a feeling how it ends [note, I haven't watched this week's episode yet]...

Kaiji 19

@Xanthe
I'm expecting something like that as well from the d-mail saga, but I was mostly worried about the mysterious "dream" he had 3-4 times. Depending how they weave that into the story, it could be a cheap way out of an otherwise interesting plot.
I'm not entirely against that idea, but they will have to do it well.
Ah right, I had forgotten about the "dream". We'll have to wait and see I guess.
About Steins;Gate, is it a sequel or can I just jump right in?
a sequel to Chaos;Head? No not in the least.
Spoiler: show
Same studio, but the story is completely unrelated. The only thing they have in common is that both main character suffer from delusion, but chaos;head turned into a ridiculous ridiculous harem, while stein;gate is a sci-fi show with a good cast.
I didn't hate chaos;head, I thought the show had an interesting concept if you can look under the thick layer or bullshit, but it's not something I would recommend.
Steins;Gate is the animation of the XBOX360 game, PSP port was recently released. So if you want spoilars you should look at the wiki, though its not really detailed. I watched chaos head and it was ok-ish. there's also a manga starring suzuka.
Ok, aside from one person's "5 min then off", is there any info on R-15? It's the only thing left on the fence for being added/rejected to my backlog of doom.
And, nobody is on Appleseed XIII? Was it delayed again?
Also, way late, but did anyone watch Showa Monogatari? Was curious if it performed very well, considering the odd premise in this environment.
R-15 is awful in every way imaginable. It's an anime that's built entirely on fanservice. And all the fanservice is censored. There is no story and all the characters are shitty and all the humor is just stale rehashes from other ecchi animes. It was the worst show I watched all season and yes, I did watch the entire first episode.
I lasted 2 episodes into Showa Monogatari. The voice acting was the ABSOLUTE WORST I've ever heard in Japanese. The main character (the boy) has zero emotion in his voice you'd think the director told the actress to speak monotone through the entire series. Animation was low quality and the characters were pretty boring. All those negatives were too much for me to overcome the story which was decent and the setting which is what I was most excited about. Don't get many animes that accurately portray the 1960s in Japan. So I was disappointed.
Forgot about Appleseed XIII, going to try to look into that soon.
