Edit: Oh a bit more, The director is Toshiyuki Kubooka who worked on the Lunar game series, Gotham Knight animation by Studio 4c, Nadia, Gunbuster, and some others.

No. 6 is what Fractale should've been. There was only 1 good episode in Fractale and that was #7.

Blood C is really just as crappy as I expected it to be, anything CLAMP has touched since Geass (I know they didn't do the story) has basically sucked ass (and many would argue everything since a bit before Geass). I don't understand what happened, did they just get lucky in their earlier days with stuff that didn't suck? Kobato had very few redeeming qualities, maybe the manga is better? I miss when CLAMP didn't suck, can we have a couple more Angelic Layers or Cardcaptor Sakuras (and not the Tsubasa kind)?

Kobato was 12 episodes too long. They could've cut half that shit and it would have been better for it. But apart from xxxHolic, there hasn't been a CLAMP work that I've liked. They're just... generally not that good at stories. Art wise, I guess it depends on the style, but CLAMP do have good art (at least I loved the art in Chobits).

Mawaru Penguindrum was all sorts of madness, this is the kind of shit I like to see when I watch anime. The ED kinda makes me think this might be a gender bender at some point, but I hope not, cause there aren't that many stories that are strong with that element in it.

Usagi Drop was fantastic, and my personal front runner this season.

Ikoku wasn't what I expected at all, but it was good all the same. I just wonder how they're gonna do the story, doesn't seem like much can come from this set up...

Aria-style slice of life ftw. I would be surprised if there was any sort of major overarching conflict in this series. Maybe a little love story or something. Or maybe it'll pull a Madoka on us and Yune will start fighting French demons in like ep 3. (nah)

What part bothered you? The lore was explained.


There is a biological super-computer that control every aspect of the society directly (food production, transportion, city) and indirectly (enhanced internet, send holographics picture to make everyone life better). As time pass, people forgot how Fractale worked, and couldnt deal efficiently with the eventual system failures that happened many centuries later.

To repair the computer, they had to send another brain that was in the exact same state as the original girl, and that's exactly what the Temple tried to do. They had Phryne (biological aspect) and Nessa (the artificial memories), and with that, they rebooted the system.

the whole motive for that seedy guy that ended up blowing himself up with the grand priestess was never touched upon, nor the reason why a raped adolescent girl regressing to a 10 year old mind become the template of the god/mainframe of the fractale system.

Dias' motives and beliefs were stated a few times before, I'm not sure why you say they were not touched upon. He is basically a typical utilitarian villain (sacrifices a few to save many) who was willing to sacrifice his own life to accomplish his goal . Why did he kill himself in the end is left to interpretation, but he probably felt remorse for his actions, even if he still believe it was the right thing to do. It's not however something crucial to the plot, or something unseen before. It was meant to be ambiguous.

As for the "raped adolescent girl", the whole point that that she had to experience pain to understand human's suffering. It turned out that pain wasn't the only essential part, but she also had to learn how to love her kind (and that's where Claine came into play). If you're asking why a fictional super computer needed these 2 elements, along with a fresh brain, the only answer I can give you is "because". The writers makes the rules in sci-fi. However, it's not like this concept is completely unreasonable. You're talking about a computer that is going to take care of mankind, and understanding them properly seem like an important aspect.


There is a few details that could be nitpick, I've done it before, but I think the premise was still solid for the most part. The issue did not originate from the plot or lore imo, but how scenes were written. The transition were not good, and the pacing was completely off (wasted a lot of time early, introduced a bunch of concepts and character way too late)

thing is, the way the entire thing unfolded with Diaz and the Grand Priestess, it gave some implications like there were more in the story that wasn't really covered, since it seem that they both planned it to end that way, as if they had some history with each other prior to that which ended in him wanting to destroy fractale from the outside, and her from the inside. I just thought that particular subplot was just implied with the ending, but completely wasted in execution because there is pretty much nothing leading up to that.

I watched the entire fractale hoping it'd be good, but it's just disappointment piling upon disappointment with every episode to me, ending in a meh finale with a bleh epilogue, the series just didn't give me enough reason to like any of the character aside from Nessa, and that's only because she was voiced by Hanazawa Kana.

It might just be me, but this particular line when they meet at the very end make me think it was the first time they came across each other. Again, it's left to interpretation, but I've the feeling they simply understood each other because they went through similar nihilist thoughts on both side of the fence.


Like I said, the pacing was wrong, they didnt spend the time where they should have, and the transition between scenes was completely off. A lot could have been improved. However, despite all this, I don't think the plot or lore had any fundamental issues.

The series was a letdown for me as well because I expected a better structure from noitamina anime, but I still liked some of the ideas and themes that were brought up, the settings, the world, and I did like more than one characters (Nessa was the best though). If you would ask me to pick this series or another moe blob like k-on, I would pick this one again in a heartbeat. It's definitively not the best, and many animes ranked higher, but I will still take an animes that tries to tell an original story over another rehash that was done 10 billions times.
