Penguindrum 02
Perhaps not quite as outrageous as the first episode, but still enjoyable and sets up the next episode nicely.
I sure do love original series.

I sure do love original series.
Penguin Drum 2: Wasn't as interesting as the first episode, but I suppose the shock value had a lot to do with it, though glad to see everyone in the series is slightly fucked in the noggin.
No. 6 2: The plot thickens, and I can't help but smile when Shion just dropped her as soon as he heard Nezumi's voice, right after she told him she wanted his baby.
Baka Test 2: The usual hilarity ensuing, Koumi is surprisingly moe <3
Blood C isn't getting any better which is a shame cause it looks really good art wise.
Look at the bright side, there are more singing!
Usagi Drop: Great episode, really liked how they showed Daikichi and Rin struggle to adjust to their new life. I really like how well the emotions come out for each character in that art style. Also, no one has really mentioned the humor in Usagi Drop yet but I love how it is used in certain scenes, like when Daikichi was trying to figure out the size of the shirt for Rin and then she started flapping her arms. It's an overlooked aspect of Usagi Drop but it's great.
No. 6: Really like where this anime is going, especially since I had no clue about the story and characters. I'm looking forward to what the next episode shows with its new setting, new characters, and probably the introduction of the central plot for the anime.
Penguindrum: If this is what most of the series will be like, then I'll be happy. The art, animation, and music are wonderful and the story has picked up a bit. The penguins really add a lot to the anime in how they're used, both story, comedy, and how they interact with their environment. The style of humor works for the show but the jokes themselves were a little underwhelming when paired against the production values. But at least this anime can survive without the comedy.
Blood C: More fights, singing, and school stuff. Fights are still interesting and fun to watch, everything else is boring. Still beautiful art, animation, and music, just wish the story would pick up and the characters would do something rather than just respond to Saya's questions and sit there.
Idolmaster: This is the first real episode. Had great writing, able to incorporate all the characters (which is where I thought the show would struggle) as well as have a message on 'individuality' and 'image'. Yeah, it had some stupid cliche anime moments but most of the episode was free of those elements and it seemed pretty original. I still find most of their personalities to be really shallow. Despite being an episode revolving around Iori, it felt like nothing changed for her character at the end. But then again, I never expected any real character development in this show either.
Nyanpire: People were complaining about the hand-holding in No. 6, I wonder what they'll think when they see episode 2 of Nyanpire.
Kamisama Dolls: I decided I'm going to watch this anime. Nothing great but I like the concept. Would be the lowest rank anime of the season at this point if I were to rank them right now.
mmm girl making strange sheep noise
loving the ecchi + comedy of the series![]()
Dantalian no Shoka 01
Have been waiting for this one. Apparently people had very low expectations for this because it's GAINAX's "B-team" or something.
Judging by the first episode, I have nothing to fault the series for. Basically scenery porn, good voicing, interesting plot and well animated action.
B-team or not, OnoD and Miyukichi can probably carry the series by conversation alone, at least for me anyway.
Why do I even bother...

They must be really naked for them to not even bother trying to censor it properly.
Dantalian really struck me to be like Cardcaptor Sakura (sealing books instead of cards) with flavors of Gosick and an Utena mechanic thrown in for good measure. The big joke at my anime club was that the main character is going to monologue things to death every week. Aside from feeling like I've seen it all before, it wasn't bad, it kept my attention much better than Kamimemo anyway, which for some reason reminds me of this show (probably the mysterious young girl shut up all alone thing, that's been overplayed lately...)
Haven't seen censoring that bad since seikon no qwaser.. hell the censoring even was censored! Replaced entire scenes with random scenery![]()
Tiger&Bunny ep 16 was freaking awesome. This is exactly the kind of story I wanted to see since the beginning, one that flip the setting around and show us the downside of the hero world.
Nichijou 16 was hilarious. The espresso, Mio fighting everybody, the collision of the two shows with Yuuko, Hakase and Nano...all around hilarity.
Agreed, episode 16 had me rolling. Mio fight scene was incredible.
I didn't think it would be great at first, but holy shit it really picked up. Tiger's problems and Justice's past make for really good TV and complete the picture a little more. Also, suspicious of the guy who leads Hero TV. He was way to close to Barnaby's accident lol.
Let's hope it keeps up like this. I don't mind a slow episode now and again, but going back to what most of the first half of the season was would be a let down.
Yeah, Nichijou and Tiger&Bunny 16s were both really great, their bests of the summer so far. I'm really glad both picked up since they'd kinda started the summer slowly and were unimpressive. Can't wait to see what what's behind Mr. Maverick's involvement with Barnaby. I was not expecting that, so it looks like there's some more development on him and his character now.
Also, please tell me I'm not the only one watching Nekogami (Cat Gods). It's a very cute, simple comedy that's full of nekomimi. Here's the OP if you care:
