I didn't see Baccano! on that list so I'll go ahead and recommend that, but you passed on Durarara!(same person who wrote Baccano!) so I dunno if you'll like it.
Something that seems more your type is Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu. Pretty funny shit.

Bokurano looks different lol, Umineko no naku koro ni wins automatically for having a song sung by Akiko Shikata :Q Nodame Cantabile seems to have really good classical music, Kuragehime seems wierd, Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha card caprot sakura v2? Natsume Yuujinchou meh, Hikaru no go haha interesting, a "sport" anime with Go, Saki too lol, interesting, I think ive seen part of BLood+
Not real sure, just didnt immediately appeal to me for some reason, not real sure, maybe the visual style. I used to have time to watch anime that seemed iffy to me, but I just dont have the time anymore.
Only a small handfull. I did the same with Claymore, I only watched 5 or so, but found it uninteresting so I didnt watch any more.
Couldnt find Maddox, El Cazador de la Bruja looks cute, House of Five leaves eyes are driving me crazy lol, watched Mushishi and liked it for the most part, Towards the Terra looks like it may be worth it, not sure about Kurau Phantom Memory and PlanetES, couldnt really get a feel for them.
Like all~ cept for shin lol.. never got in to that one. I also watched some JoJo but never finished it for some reason.
Baccano! looks like it could be good, must have missed that.
Ive tend to notice that instead of liking full season series, ive seemed to like half seasons more as I can move one to the next series. I dont really have that much free time anymore, so shorter is always good.
Just because it random stupid fun give Hetalia: Axis Powers a try the eps are like 5 minutes long but that just means that you can breeze though them also the first series is up on Netflix right now. Actually I think that Netflix just got a deal with Viz and Funimation both because there is a ton of anime that you can stream now.
So, is there anything I need to know/watch before I start Kara no Kyoukai? Is there a movie/OVA series and a regular one? I've been wanting to watch it for a while (after seeing that bitching rooftop scene) but never knew where to start.
kara no kyoukai is a movie series. there are no "regular" ones.
Hmm, was the series called Tsukihime? Maybe I'm thinking of that, since I vaguely remember watching it years ago. Well, knowing it's just the movie series makes things easier anyway, thanks.
On that note, Tsukihime any good?
Edit: Looking it up... seems like Tsukihime is related somehow... meh, I'll just watch both.
Tsukihimi is kind of an alternate universe. While I didn't watch the anime I "played" the Tsukihime VN (not completely, just one path) and you really don't need to know it before Kara no Kyoukai - while they share a lot of things they aren't really connected.
Tsukihime was a VN inspired by Kara no Kyoukai, later adapted into its own anime. Kara no Kyoukai was originally a light novel series which was adapted into the movie series. Kinoko Nasu wrote the story for both series.
Release order:
KnK novels > Tsukihime VN > Tsukihime anime > KnK movies
Kara no Kyoukai was good..but also boring. I'm never able to care about Kinoko Nasu's character for some reason, even if the plot is interesting.
The soundtrack (by kajiura) was also excellent, and the animation very good.
There is a large amount of dialog/story in KnK. It definitely won't be a top pick if all you're looking for is action. Fortunately I'm all about the former. It has a good replay value as well since it can be easy to miss some points with only one viewing.
I actually just finished going through the 7 Kara no Kyoukai movies, going to be doing the epilogue very soon. It's very good imo, and while it does have good action that's not it's main point. You will be lost and confused at many points, but I'm pretty sure everything eventually makes sense and all questions are answered.
The Remix: Gate of Seventh Heaven movie also does a good job of clearing up some things. You can watch it after 1-6. I won't say anything more about it than that. So my preferred viewing order would be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Remix: Gate of Seventh Heaven, 7, Epilogue.
You kinda need to be at least somewhat familiar with the T-M lore to really get into Rakkyou, else it's usually too convoluted with the explanation to get the point across.
Hey hope you guys don't mind if I hijack this thread since you guys are basically doing for this guy what I would make a new thread to ask.Looking for a new anime to get into because I haven't watched one in awhile that I really liked or watched further than a few episodes in. I absolutely love supernatural types of animes, with Mushi-shi and Eureka Seven at my top 2 animes I've ever seen. Another note is, I fucking hate school based animes... unless it's really good. Sick of them really.
Also my #3 anime is Nana.. but thats more romantic comedy, which is completely different from the other two I love lol
So, any suggestions for me?![]()
It's difficult to give you a decent recommendation since I havent watched any of the series you listed, but here is a list of my favorites series
http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Kaylin&show=0&order=4
I usually reserve 10 (and 9 to a lesser extent) to original series that arent filled with fanservice, typical school cliché and other rehashed plot. There is obviously a few exceptions, but if you want something original, it can be a good place to starts.
[edit]
Last Exile if you want some action an interesting setting
Monster/Death Note if you want to mystery/thriller
Full metal alchemist if you want the good kind of shonen
Dennou Coil and Magnitude 8.0 are both unique, and well done
Durarara or Bacanno if you want a confusing plot that skip all over the place
Shiki and Higurashi if you want an horror/mystery show (the writing in both is kinda weak though)
You could try Honey and Clover. I really enjoyed Nana as well and HnC is my top pick for best anime drama. Alternatively you can try Bokura ga ita or Lovely Complex if you're really craving for a few good drama animes.
As far as Sci-fi goes, Dennou Coil as mentioned above was really nice. You could also try Shigofumi or FLCL if you want something crazy/random.
You might enjoy Saikano as well seeing as its a mix of drama/sci-fi.
