Bluegartr serves 3 purposes:
1) Brag about a weapon it took you and a buddy a week to get.
2) Amaze your friends by turning a percentage on an item into a fraction with 1024 as the denominator.
3) Bitch about how your LS screwed you over.
Anything else is considered "not advanced." If you have ever wanted to learn something, you have always gone to a different forum.
From when I started I posted in the "standard" forum before it got merged. With an occasional "advanced" post. I got all my info here or on wiki.

The only reason we have a BLU thread is because it was the initial thread made back when ToAU was released to figure out BLU. It has simply lived that long, mostly because the posters in that thread turned it into something new - an RQT thread for BLU, but it still documents all changed info on BLU as its released.
Can any of you supporters of job forums tell me one thing? Why are you not updating Wiki or BGwiki to offer equipment choices or mechanics on Store TP or whatever in guide format? That's what that resource has always been for, and none of you have ever used it. Best of all, you create the information, put it on a wiki page, and then the information doesn't get lost, and if someone asks a really specific question about a job, you have a link to the page you created for their reference. You can also update the post with the date it was last valid, and someone else can come along later to continue to update it should you leave or die or whatever. It's perfect. Why are you not doing this already?
I personally am not because I'm one of the people looking for the information as well. Since there are no 90 guides currently save a few random gear suggestions I wouldn't mind adding a guide once I learn a bit more. I'm still stuck in level 75 mindset. Working on nu-ffxi learning yet. @_@
These forums [with or without job specific sections] don't need anyone else with level 75 mindset.

I, too, would condone a sub-forum with job specific Random Question threads. As someone mentioned earlier, searching through threads can be surprisingly troublesome. Consider the keywords we use: STR, DEX, the name of a WS, and so on -- things that may be repeated numerous times. As if that weren't enough, people abbreviate abilities, WS, etc., meaning a completely relevant search result may never be found. Further, while someone said certain questions go unanswered "for a reason," this isn't necessarily true. Given the high activity the threads themselves experience, it's not unreasonable at all to have a question entirely skimmed over.
Hell, occasionally, the RQT is taken over by a question whose answer turns into multitudes of posts chiming in on the subject, potentially drowning out any other discussion being had -- in summary, it does become a job-specific thread in bursts, and during those periods, other discussions may be neglected.
It's consolidated, but that doesn't mean it's more efficient. It isn't.
All I know is BG doesn't want to be like everyone else, and they come up with compelling arguments like "it's retarded" to negate the implementation. C'est la vie. It is what it is.
And you're surprised by this?
A lot of people forget about the fact that at the end of the day, Blue Gartr was a site formed by a linkshell on a server on a certain game, that was built for them to come together and occasionally talk shit with other linkshells. It grew into its current incarnation through the same way that other sites like Fires of Heaven and Elitist Jerks did - It had a lot of visibility because of what it was. It became a central conglomeration point for end game. Post a few theories or test results that become accepted, then suddenly everyone thinks it's supposed to be a bastion of information from day one.
Mind you, I'm not knocking on the people who have done due diligence and tested or pushed the game to it's limits, like Kaeko and Kirschy. Note that BG is usually a front runner when it comes to information on new content, new techniques and new knowledge in general. But we have a place that could potentially chronicle all of that (BGWiki or even Wiki), but the problem is nobody takes the time. And it should be chronicled, because a lot of that information is static in nature (unless patched). The only thing that would change between new content is incorporation of new gear and the occasional nerf bat swinging or improvements on certain job abilities or mechanics.
Shit, since I've practically stopped playing, maybe I should start just taking the spare time to update things on BGW.
Creating job forums is the easy way out. It may be beneficial to discuss certain topics, but unless that information can be easily referenced at some later point (eg. just point to a wiki), it's just a more specialized Random Question Thread, potentially spread out over multiple threads.
I do like the tag ideas though, if it can be done at a post level.
