Looking for a great deal on a digital camera

My girlfriend and I are going to Scandanavia this summer for her friend's wedding outside Stockholm and she's looking to buy a nice digital camera before we go. Her current "front-runner" is the Nikon Coolpix L120, which is retail around $260 - she wants something with a nice zoom lens.

Anyone have a place to get this camera cheaper or a nicer one for the same price? We have a couple months before the trip so we have time to shop around.

This is the one she's looking at: http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/coolpix/life/l120/

/sigh, Iphone is a phone/web/email/communication device, not a phone. Yes, it can take decent photos, but nothing I'd call worthwhile.

Personally, I'd look into getting a Canon G9 or G10 - they have really good specs, and will last you a long time. Can shoot in full manual, can "dummy" it down, built like tanks, can take a beating, etc etc.

Other options are this: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerSho...331632&sr=8-41 - I have one that I tote around when I'm not shooting professionally (I use a Canon EOS1D Mark III, and a 5D II for professional work), just to take pics of random things when I'm out and about. What I like about this one though, is that I can shoot in raw, is capable of doing pretty much everything my bigger cameras can do (except switch out lenses, and a few other things), and I can control it manually as well as put it on auto mode for the wife.

You get what you pay for. The camera I mentioned above though, is definitely worth every penny for me.

However, if I were to do it all over again, and wanted something that was totally portable, and could switch out lenses, I'd go for this:

Definitely liked the concept behind it, and would probably try one out just for carrying around.

Those are all much more than she wants to spend. Looking more for great deals/woot/coupon codes/etc that put great cameras in the sub $300 range.

With how nice cameras on smartphones are now, I subscribe to phone +dslr. If she doesn't want a used Nikon D40 or newer, That Nikon Coolpix is nice for what it is (friends gf has one). Its just kind of waste if you want to step it up once your having fun, unless you get one, and that stays hers, or ebay.
