what's the point of Fealty? Does a one minute strong resistance/immunity to many debuffs every 10 minutes actually come in handy at something? I went Chivalry 5 Iron Will 4 and Fealty 1 (just to have it in case something did come up).
Also I fail to see the point of Cover over Shield bash recast and/or rampart recast. Do you actually get to use it?
I have 1 point in Fealty for a free Citadel Buster, and that's about it. Like you, I went 5/5 Chivalry, 4/5 Iron Will, 1/5 Fealty (although I guess the argument can be made for Guardian over Iron Will).
I don't see the point in Cover either. It's worthless as it is. 5/5 Sentinel recast, 5/5 Rampart recast (because of Iron Will). Perhaps he'll enlighten us (see what I did there?).
I'm not missing the add-ons. I'm missing the WotG expansion discs, which you do need to install.
Would really appreciate if anyone had any advice for means to aquiring this outside of "download ultimate edition off steam". It's bad enough my computer decided to do a windows update restart overnight mid-way through my update (tyvm).
I can put it on my dropbox if you give me a min.
Ok well not gonna take just a minute probably more like an hour due to my likely 1mbit upload rate.
Here's the link anyway for when it does finish uploading in case no one else has gotten it for you by then.

Says 52 mins from this edit so I would try around 6 am central time.
This is NA version btw. EU I saw on some torrent.
Okay, I have a question. I was soloing Cuelebre on Smn and I was mainly using Garuda with MM, DG, and Gales. Well. Garuda was only taking 4-6 dmg a hit and I find that very curious. Just what kind of Dmg is Cuelebres basic attacks?
Earth magic-based regular attacks, as far as I'm aware.
Earth magic-based (I have to assume) and that is normal. I think only a certain tp move did noticeable damage.
cuelebre related: can you red/get hint if he is hit by clyclone AoE when flying?
(wiki answered: you can clyclone him when flying)
Yeah, Wind > Earth. Mystery solved.
You can Cyclone and Earth Crusher him while he's flying, but only by targetting other monsters nearby. He becomes meleeable during Mighty Strikes, but he's also spamming TP moves so good luck proccing him.
BLU could more than likely solo 99% of the missions. I have no familiarity with DNC, so I can't speak to that, but there are missions where you are fighting NIN mobs that spawn NIN adds that all blow up on you (Legacy of the Lost, just turning around until they despawned worked for me) and another where you must keep an NPC alive.
Though, I just did all of ToAU up to Legacy of the Lost MNK+WHM, and after that I did the rest of it MNK+WHM+BRD including Odin/Alexander Prime with absolutely no difficulty. Most single boss fights with no niche components lasted a minute or less.
Other note:
When calculating the upper limits of fSTR to determine what dSTR is...just to be clear, when solving for dSTR I am adding 8 to the WRANK value before multiplying, or no?
Example adding 8:
(Lv85 Kannagi)
(14+(5[WRANK]+8 )*2)*2
dSTR=80
Example not adding 8:
14+(5[WRANK]*2)*2
dSTR=48

Fealty because I use it a lot vs charms and because there is not much competition in g2. Because of Ochain Guardian is useless for me and Chivalry pretty much the same. Iron will I have 4/5 just for those moments I need to cast and I cant use shield (staggering while solo tho I only went solo to get KI once for Bat in misar, usually I go with NIN). Cover on the other hand I use all the time lol. Examples? sure:
1. When I duo with my friend and he is going all out on WAR - inside abyssea it is obviously just saving mp on WHM but outside on ??? Demons in Xarca for example Quadruple attack is pretty much one shot for WAR
2. When I duo with competent DD (War again) and he want to start full damage from start I am using cover to tank before we are both on hate cap - inside abyssea
3. If you playing with BLM and he is close to hate cap you can give him additional 40 sec of free nuking same for RNG
4. Covering WHM or RDM on hate reset mobs.
5. Covering WAR when he is doing stagger to cut tp gain on mob to only this from WAR's hits. Useful on fast hitting mobs and those who like to do TP moves chains. Ofc it only saves time but still![]()
6. Cover on Hundred Firsts.
Seriously I cant imagine how someone could choose -50 sec on 5 min stun instead of pretty much +100% duration on cover. This is also only true for Ochain and Aegis (Cover on chainspell itself is worth more then lol -50 sec on shield bash)
Backsolving from max damage is going to give you a range of possible STRs, but:
Base Damage you measure - 52 = fSTR
fSTR's max is floor(52/9+8 )=13
The +8 is only for calculating the cap, so if you had, for instance, a 60 base damage Kannagi:
fSTR = 8 = ~floor(dSTR/4 + 1)
7*4 = dSTR is between 28 and 31
I think Masamune tested the fSTR table and found it to be accurate. If you're going lower than dSTR=12, the formula changes:

PLD is only better if it's needed aka MNK can't make it ( one shooting TP move for example ) this situation is much more common outside abyssea obviously.
There is a small gray area for that tho when supertanking (like on my video) or some variables makes PLD better even If MNK can make it.
I havent tried VW yet but PLD is probably better because from what I understood for best results VW need to be hold till lights are capped and MNK is rather made/used to tank something that you want to kill not hold.
Cover merits were cool back in the old days of tanking tiamat without fire resist, and using af2 body to get all my mp back. Good times. Now... well, I don't even play paladin, although that may change once/if I get ochain/almace. >_>
Is this a good build for war/sam (5hit/26% haste)? If not, what changes should I make?
