Dummy spells will interrupt mid/aftercast swaps from spells in progress, sc set mdt won't. It's best to have both, "sc set mdt" to swap to mdt and then mid/after will still occur, then you hit mdt again, and dummy when it's a real ohshitohshit to make sure you're locked in mdt and won't swap unless you hit a new spell.
That was just a general suggestion. I didn't realize anyone still used the built in macro system. I haven't since around 2007. The dropbox suggestion was to supplant the need to backup in-game macros to SE's server.
@Radec: If you use /sc disable in the middle of a spell does mid/aftercast still go through? Rather, could you just put sc set mdt; sc disable; wait 5; sc enable;
Was reading through posts and feel like i missed something important.
Dropbox? are you referring to the online backup service?
And about the built in macro system? Just want to understand what you mean... I use macro lines such as "/nin "Utsusemi: Ni" <me> which means SpellCast would just handle any rules tied to that. Only macro lines I have in game that are windower related are like "/sc var set evasion 0"
Which are backed up to SE servers, never seemed to have any problems however, it has been that way for last 2 years also.
Is there some new amazing way people do macros now? I do still use a usb controller just find it more natural since i started on PS2.
Thanks.
Since you play with controller, what I said doesn't really apply to you, and I don't even think controller has the lag issue that keyboard use of in game macro system suffers from.
Yeah I am referring to the online backup service dropbox. I just bind and alias everything with windower instead of using SE's macro system and I keep my windower directory on my dropbox so it's synced across all computers I might play XI on(and thus the benefit of backing macros up to SE's servers isn't needed).
Just an alternate(I think better) method of handling your macros, but I forgot that a lot of people play with controller, so my suggestion only applies to people who play solely on keyboard.
1.) How does one go about getting the event Polearm without waiting until halloween event?
2.) Has anyone re-done the Smash! A Malevolent Menace fight recently to re-augment moogle add-on headpiece? If so, how was it? I really don't even remember the fight it was so long ago.
what lvl can you skill up to on stealshells in boyada ?
Is there a way I can make equipment swap macros that only cover one line? A basic spellcast, or do I have to use spellcast?
It depends on the skill rating for the weapon you're using. Use this:
http://www.nateworld.com/ffxi/skillcaps.html
Plug in your job and level 78 (Lowest level Steelshell is 73, ~+5 from the skillup changes in last patch) and that's the point where skillup rate will really die off.
That's how I approximate it, anyway.
What's the ideal TP gear setup for Ninja in Abby?
what would be the easiest way to test demonry ring, since i don't think anyone has yet.
I have kparser but it might be a little outdated, but would i just kill 100 mobs with and a 100 mobs without?
Whats a standard setup ppl are using to kill AV nowadays? Two parties should be enough right?
Assuming it affects all 3 hits, could SA-Assassin's charge until you get a damage rating beyond what should be possible on lvl0 stuff. This will take forever but I'm not sure where else you can force capped pdif+fstr really easily.
Edit: Best bet, set Apoc+<attack>+<attack> atma and throw a lot of hits at something that can't guard or similar.
