It's not worse anymore at 5/5 merits, it's equal with longer duration as of 90 with high enhancing skill, and possibly slightly better, the formula changes above 370 skill.
Phalanx II still has it's uses, though all we ever really use rdm for anymore is to phalanx II our puller/cleaver >.>
Back in the day I had 5/5 phalanx 2 for salv purposes, so I guess that might still be useful so you could /whm. As of now, my rdm is 5/5 para 2, 3/5 slow 2, 2/5 dia 3 I guess for the random time we ever zerg something and I'm not on another job.
Dia3 isn't used for zerg only, if that's what you mean. It costs 15 more MP than dia2, and decreases defense by 5% more, I dia3 everything that lasts more than like 30 seconds.
The only reason you'd ever want /whm is if you need stona or viruna and don't have anyone else to /whm or a WHM main. Phalanx 2 does have uses, but I didn't think it was worth giving up the main things that make a RDM a RDM. They should make phalanx2 default IMO.
what's the rollover on damage in the log? after LS event, brewed some Resheph's just to get rid of all the KI's, and my cloudsplitter dmg was taking off 75% but only like 3k dmg showed in log.
Wasn't necessarily saying dia3 is only for zergs...mainly just made that comment by my shell's lack of a rdm presence most times. Usually we don't even have a whm that isn't 2boxed, seeing as 4 of our main members have a whm mule in tow. For most things we do these days rdm isn't a job that is *needed* so people who have rdm leveled end up coming as other jobs -- proc jobs/thf/jobs they have an emp for.
It comes down to what you have available really, and the trade off or bringing rdm. If you have ample jobs *needed* for said event, sure have someone rdm instead. Most mobs die in around 5 mins or less anyway inside abyssea, and that's where we spend 98% of our time, so there's usually not a point in bringing someone rdm when they could say ukon war or kannagi nin instead.
How does that work? It's my experience that it becomes quite liberal with 4000 Needles below 25% or so, and the double/triple use constantly gets to be overwhelming.
Perhaps the issue is that I don't have THF. I found the tiger and T2 VNM much easier to finish with my WHM friend and a BLM mule.
For lowest man situations I'd probably go with tiger over cactus, there's very little risk involved with tiger. I've only done the cactus a handful of times, and had closer to 7-8 people. Didn't have any issues with it going apeshit crazy with needles, but I can see it being a possible issue I suppose.
It does only use 4000 needles below 25%, and it always uses it 3 times in a row in my experience.
1000 Needles x1 >75%
?75% > 2000 Needles x2 > 25%
>25%, 4000 Needles x3
But yeah, Tiger is an exceptionally easy fight, especially if you have good timing or are on a job with high delay. I'll probably be duoing him BLM/BRD + DNC/NIN when I finally get around to doing my RDM seals.
He definitely uses 4k needs prior to 25%. Probably 50-60% I think.
It is only 1000 damage per person before damage reduction. Put on minimal damage reduction gear and you've got plenty of room to eat 2 back to back. So you whm just has to be able to cast curaga 4 in less time than it takes to do 4k needles 3 times.
Yeah RDM is completely useless in abyssea, but that's what happens when you give people unlimited mp, and infinite stat boosts in a game with jobs that are 100% focused on buffing/supporting/refreshing/debuffing mobs. Real good job on the dev who thought it was a good idea. I personally would never ask anyone to come RDM to abyssea, the only reason I do is because I love the job and it's my main job ;_; Outside abyssea RDM is great/amazing though. Refresh2 keeps a WHM's mp going as well as potent debuffs/back up curing.
They said something about 91-99 being outside abyssea 100%, and they keep adding more things outside abyssea to do so I'm happy ^_^
Best and easiest party set up to do Divine Might@ 90 with a shout group? Also how difficult is it now?
BST can trio it, if not duo. BST can almost solo it.
otherwise party of 90's won't have much trouble, but i don't know an exact setup.
taru stays in the room, kill galka &elvaan quickly. Otherwise watch out for Minjin Gakure.
party of 7 pet jobs wiped the floor w/ it no trouble at all.
Anybody done any testing on AGI => Subtle Blow? How much AGI is needed for 1 subtle blow, etc.
Finally decided to pay some attention to my subtle blow for my jobs.
