Gimp/Confused/WTF Player Thread XXII: someone who doesnt play my MMO as much as me

The thing with whm is that it can even be done well naked unlike almost every other job in the game.
A gimp DD has a huge influence on the performance of the entire group on all fronts, a gimply geared whm only cures for less HP, adds less resistance to bar-spells, yada yada, etc. etc. but overall doesn't hurt the group's performance that much as long as they keep the group alive, hasted and free from detrimental status effects.

I agree with the gimp is gimp, but when it comes to healers I think most of us tend to be very forgiving unless they are real fuckups.
Most whm images I've seen posted here had some fun stories attached to them and were more personal encounters instead of your standard "Purple mob" or "that other Linkshell".

I'm going to disagree on the naked part. I have nearly run myself out of MP that way, but it had more to do with not having +2 legs than anything else (grabbed a yellow Sedna while trioing for exp, didn't have time to grab all of my gear from the porter while the others held it with their loljobs). BLMs don't end up here for using HQ staves when they should be using magians, either, and I do believe they've been known to do damage from time to time.

Surya's +2 for cure potency is a week of work tops and more useful than a 3rd or 4th empyrean weapon. Is it ok to cap on haste if you're including Wyrm Mail +1? Why is it ok to cap cure potency using shitty ring + shitty atma when those slots can be used for MND? You're free to feel however you want, I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy of harping on a guy for his Brown Belt when you've got WHMs running around with supergimp cure potency sets. But it's ok, they're just a mule.

I think it's more to do with that a melee's performance is more determined by their gear than a healers is, which is more down to your reactions and decision making. It does say something about the XI community, though quite what that something is I'm not sure; probably that different classes are judged differently. I would say, however, that chewing out every whm you meet for not having perfect gear would make for interesting times, given that most people already don't like the job because they normally get blamed when people die, so adding on another layer of social pressure doesn't strike me as the smartest thing that could be done to an already scarce group of people. And really, if they're not making you wipe and fights are going smoothly, does it matter that much?

While I am not disagreeing with you regarding the double standards, my main point is that a gimply geared whm has less of a negative effect on group effort then a gimply geared damage dealer.

Some folks on here do hold the bar pretty high though, where most of the time the person posting it doesn't even come close to reaching that same bar.
I also personally cringe at the pics of people posting characters that can arguably get better items for some slots that aren't necesarilly gimp.

It's people like the one Aurara just posted that I personally consider truly gimp/retarded.

Well, I'll point out one thing...the difference in capabilities of what I can do with my mule is vastly superior than what it was when I first started using him. Right now, he's at something like -47%curecast time and 9%fast cast (hence why i need to do RDM sub) and caps cure pot...as opposed to before with 37% potency and 28% cast time. Somewhat small changes, but they've actually made a huge difference and allow me to use the other mule for whatever is best for the situation.

As someone that's mostly on whm myself I agree with you fully that good equipment makes the job a hell of a lot easier.
I would be a fool to deny that.

But lesser equipment doesn't break the capable whm, they only have to work a little harder and mind a few extra conditions.
Put the best player behind a gimply geared melee job and your party is hurting, put the best player behind a gimply geared whm and chance is that they'll mostly do just fine.

I had the bright idea to do magian staves on both my characters simultaneously, thinking that getting kill credit from both would make it go along swimmingly.

Bottled Pixies twice over - god I was swearing my way through Grauberg by the end of it all.

Picture should make what is going on obvious: your typical FC. But the cuntmuffin in the SS somehow got it into his head that we'd been trying to MPK him with the Cactuar NM (hint: we hadn't), so decided to try and do the same to us (note my dead main, after sacing the NM away). He wasn't the only person to try and ruin our exp this way, others tried to force us out the camp, but this is the only one I SS'd. Made me fucking rage that people could be such cunts, and reminded me why I've been playing single-player games so much more recently, and been happier for it.

I've been working on skilling up H2H and unlocking WS off deargs the last couple of days and have had many different cleave groups send someone to aggro Cujitender and die.

idkman, we were there a few hours before maint and then after it, and the only trouble we ever had with the NM was when someone intentionally ran it at us. My main was dead in the SS from pulling it away from everyone else after that bst tried to MPK us, not because I ran out to take it away from the puller or something silly.

People seem to be unable to handle Cuji if they aggro it, so I could see why they snapped and attempted to return the favor. They are gimp though and the LS name is definite irony.

I checked him twice in 5 minutes to make sure it wasnt my blinkmenot fucking with me (have it set to target only), apparently it wasnt.
