Just like Kiara explained, in SE Normal = Original Easy, SE Hard = Original Normal, SE Very Hard = Original Hard, and DMD is left untouched.

You should check out their RE4 port. Dear fucking lord is 720p not nice to that game, especially when you hit the castle and you get blurry 'gritty' textures on both sides of you in the corridors. I find it hard to believe they don't have the higher resolution assets archived somewhere before the process to downscaling/adjusting them for the PS2 hardware.

Lazy ports everywhere cashing-in over and over.....

Since 3rd one is a prequel and we have the option, would it be best to play it in the order of

3rd > 1st > 2nd (if worthy)?

Just pre-ordered it on amazon using all promo codes to cover the cost. I've played DMC1 but not 2 or 3 and everyone says 3rd is the best game of all time. OF ALL TIME!

Just do 1 > 2 > 3, 3 is incredible and you will have a hard time playing 1 and 2 afterwards.

Honestly, just skip 2 altogether. It honestly adds nothing to the story, and there are no words to describe how incredibly bad it is. Out of everyone I know, 1 acquaintance IRL likes it. I have no idea why. I mean I know you'll end up trying it, but out of all the games I've bought over the years, 2 was honestly the biggest disappointment in a game I've ever had.

2 > 1 > 3 works too. Even though it's meh I wouldn't really say skip it. On Normal it's okay just... different to the others. Don't waste your time playing on harder difficulties afterwards though.
