yeah, the menu's are pretty jarring. Can't believe they just left them completely untouched.

Started with 1 and I can't believe how much of everything I still remember. Though it seems to be 100% more noticeable to me now that this game began as a Resident Evil game.
aaaand I remember just how horrible the camera can be some times while I was fighting Phantom for the first time. Holy shit horrible camera.

so is there no difficulty setting until after you beat the game once? was hoping to get my Hard run out of the way first but just realized I have seen no options for difficulty.
I'm also not liking how the yellow orb doesnt give you the choice of using it or not. it makes you use it then you have to load up and quit.
I dont feel like I should be nitpicking this much of an early era ps2 game

Who the hell in IGN played that Dante. It was just semi-button mashing. They call themselves game reviewers?!

Surprised they got that far to be honest, or it was in easy mode. They would've never have defeated Phantom playing like that.

doing my no yellow orb and get all secret missions completed on the same run is getting a little annoying, especially with how rusty I am. Forgot how much of a bitch those 3 cats were.

Have they changed the controls for the first DMC? I tried playing the first one on the PS2 a few months ago and it felt horribly uncomfortable.

First DMC just feels like a step back after playing 3 and 4, which is why it's best to play it first lol

The secret mission in dmc1 where you have to use the reaper trampolines to get the blue fragment above the broken bridge is killing me.
you only get 1 try and if you fall, you have to reset :/ at least it's right at the start.

I don't remember the bosses in dmc1 being so easy. I'm on Hard atm, and I'm still charging right into all the bosses and just meleeing them to death with no regard.

Also; Fuck Frosts. I hate them.

And no boss is really that hard. I think maybe on DMD, Griffon 3 and Nero 3 are somewhat challenging, and Nightmare 3 for such a small arena to fight in.

Otherwise, I love the shadows in DMC1. Their lore is quite interesting and cool =D

DMC 2 is awful. What a complete joke of a game.

Is there any reason to play as Lucia? Are the missions different? Or do I just go through the same game but as her instead of Dante?

That said, on to 3 now.

No, beat Hard on Dante, unlock Trish, go through Lucia's missions with her.

I think they are different, though.

Lady is the only DMC woman that's cool. Not a big fan of Trish, and Lucia's just fucking terrible.

Lucia's missions are different, she has a lot less than Dante though I think for the most part you fight the same bosses as Dante (though not as many - don't quote me on this, been years) and a different final boss. Lucia's part of the game is pretty terrible, but I do like the DDT moves she had. Though having said that, Trish is probably the most fun to play in DMC2.

And bosses in DMC1 are pretty easy until DMD mode. That's when shit gets serious. Except for Phantom, that guy is easy no matter what. Nightmare 3 is probably the hardest boss there, though Mundus 2 was harder than expected.

Man, the fucking camera and target system in DMC2 is driving me fucking nuts, anyone know if you can change the targets you're locked on to? Also, I don't remember but, was it this bad in DMC1/3 too? I'm so fucking glad I'm getting 2 over with first, wanna plat it and be done with it. And another thing, I don't remember DMC2 being so easy, even on hard and MD mode, I'm literally half-assing going through and not really coming close to dying, except for that one boss that shows up twice with the annoying ass wolves, camera and target system really fucks me over on that fight.

You can beat DMD mode with just guns and DT. It really is that easy.

I don't remember much about the lock-on system (but it is messy), but I think R3/L3 should do the trick.

edit: or is it R1/R2? It's one of those buttons.
