I was reading this blog that calls it the Betty Draper syndrome. The male characters on the show are so interesting, flawed, and we follow them so closely that the female characters, who are morally in the right, are just killjoy shrews in response. Skyler is a strong three dimensional character. Nobody likes her, but that's one of the reasons I think it's such a good character.
